Tennis (especially singles) is arguably the most socially distanced of sports...yet Wimbledon has been cancelled and now this tournament (a solid second-tier event, especially back in the days when Agassi was regularly on the card)...how in the world does NFL football think it can go on (a full 16-fixture season at that) amid the covid?

Wimbledon has pandemic insurance - most events didn’t bother with that rider

first major cycling race seems to have come off ok.  Teams are much smaller, so when a couple of teams had one rider or staffer test positive, they pulled 2 and 3 riders, respectively, for coming into contact with the positives, and the pulled riders so far are testing negative.

Bye bye fall college sports:

It’s the right decision. Even in the Power Five the majority of players are not going on to pro careers. I wonder what the NFL will do?

I would have figured they would have postponed breathing instead.

He should be OK with this. This ensures that he won't lose to Ohio St. again.

I suppose each conference going their own way is the most college football-y outcome possible. It is really America's most disorganized sport.

personally, I wonder if the expansion northern ACC teams (colleges) are going to field squads.  I'd be surprised if Cooper, Northam, or Beshear try to block the NC, VA, or Louisville teams from playing.  'Cuse and BC might be a different story.

JMU was going to try and build its own schedule until the CAA said they'd try and play in the spring.

fwiw, bc's football and men's soccer are in pre-season camp, so I guess they are going to follow ACC rules.

AEW wrestling will be opening their weekly shows to fans again starting Wednesday. They hold their shows at Daily’s Place, an outdoor amphitheater attached to the football stadium in Jacksonville.  Initially they will be at 10% of capacity and require masks. All transactions will be electronic.  The theater holds about 5,500

The WWE unveiled a new "virtual" crowd last week called "Thunderdome" for their TV shows.  The crowd is essentially hundreds of fans on video, kind of similar to what the NBA is doing but on a large scale.

On last night's WWE Raw broadcast, some of the virtual attendees:
- wore a KKK outfit
- displayed an image of Chris Benoit (a wrestler who years ago murdered his wife and son before taking his own life)
- showed video of an Al Qaeda execution

I'm not sure who thought allowing live, unfiltered fans on video was a good idea.

Oh, the Tour de France starts next week.  Cases are going back up in France.  Big questions about whether they will  get through three weeks of racing.  Protocol is for teams to  get kicked out if 2 (of 8) riders test positive.  But, up to this  point, there doesn't seem to be bumps in infections after races, and they've been racing about a month.

The best US rider is on the Dutch team, but the Dutch team is led by a Slovenian.  A Columbian won it for the English team.  He's being supported by a Russian and an Ecuadorian who won the Grand Tour of Italy.  The top US team features 3 Columbians, one of whom really impressed in the Californian race last year, which is no more.  The team from the UAE is led by another  Slovenian who did well in Spain in the race won by the Dutch Slovenian.  The best Italian guy is on another US team, but he's not racing the Tour. Instead, its a Tasmanian and Dutch guy (not on the Dutch team with the American and Slovenian) as leaders.  The team sponsored by the Polish shoe company has no shot at the overall but has a great Belgian rider.  Meanwhile, the French don't win this thing anymore but they look great when they are in agony.

South Alabama @ Southern Miss on now.  Jags were about a 2 TD underdog and are currently up 13-0 nearing the end of the 1Q.
