RIP Chuck Yeager

Saw him fly a P-51 at one of the Andrews air shows around 1990 or so.  He signed autographs for a bit later in the show and he signed my program.  So cool.  RIP

Apologies if I'm reposting what was already stated in the WaPo article but they have a paywall. Charley Pride played in the Negro League and was a minority owner of the Texas Rangers. I've never been a C/W music fan but I do remember his songs back in the day.  RIP.

Phil Linz backup infielder for the Yanks.  Resided in Leesburg. The harmonica story is pretty funny.

His baseball career is a pretty cool dimension to his life.  As a country music artist however, his career was nothing short of astonishing.  On the country charts, he had 29 #1 hits.  29!!   And including those 29, he had 52 top 10 hits.  Not exactly a one-hit wonder.  And all while having to navigate the racial landmines that existing for him alone in the industry.

I was never a huge mainstream country fan but Pride never failed to impress.

My friend's dad was a mall Santa for years.  It used to freak the kids out when I'd take them for a picture and then I'd start chatting with Santa about his son and his non-Santa activities. I was careful though to never call him by his actual name. :)

Leslie West @ 75...

I saw Mountain in concert, in 1970 or 1971...I forget which.  Felix Pappalardi passed in 1983 as a result of a gunshot wound...a gunshot fired by his wife...

The era is quickly coming to an end...

I don't want to think about how much talent is likely to leave us in the next five years.

Former Bullets Coach KC Jones :(

Listened to Brad Stevens yesterday between the 3d and 4th quarters and he sent condolences to both the Heinsohns and the Joneses.  The Celts already were wearing "Tommy" across their chests on their warm ups this year.  4 championships as coaches for those two.  Doc has one, Bill Fitch has one, Russell / Tommy / KC have 2 each, and Red has 9.
