Except the rule has been that if you are off the base and you're tagged, you're out. The skill hasnt changed.

The skill I'm talking about is the ability to avoid slipping off the base for a microsecond, which was never called before replay, and which players did not master. I'm not talking about the case where a player is off the base long enough for the umpire to see it without slowing it down on replay. In that case the umpire calls him out, case closed.

And that has been the rule for a 100 years. Nothing has changed . You've always had to stay on the base.

Fair enough -- then perhaps there should be a rule change that if the throw clearly beats the runner -- not review-able.

No because it's freaking stupid. Then you may as well get rid of review all together because it happened to fast for the umpire to see it live.

Stay on the base. It's not that difficult. The whole point of sliding is to enable yourself to get on the base and avoid a tag. So execute it properly.

sliding also better enables the runner to keep from overrunning the base

baker did notrhing wrong in the playoffs
maddon made mistakes in the playoffs
baker should not have been fired even boswell says so

this team would have been in the lead in the division if baker had been brought back

baker won way more games then he lost i guess winning 2 division titles first time in nats history
he gets not credit for 180 plus wins but he gets discredit for a couple losses

anyone who says baker should have been fired doesn't get how baseball managing works

I deleted 4 posts or so that were basically telling tzinc his post didn't belong in the Harper thread and that he should stop obsessing about Dusty. More or less they weren't on point once I moved his post and said to stop spamming other threads.
