No the strategy required for post season is the same as regular season Dusty is not handicapped in strategy thinking and there it is again  alluding to Dustys mentality typical comment Again Maddon made several mistakes in that series Cubs fans were roasting him why is his nentaliry better than Dustys lol so ibvious

Christ, man, if you aren't going to let it go, you've got to at least write a cogent argument. I can't understand what you're saying.

Oh please...why should I go on a fools errand?  I am waiting for him to provide the intel he claims to have though...

jeebus...you've gotten really snarky in your old age...

I really have been cranky the last few days... I apologize to anyone who didn't deserve it.

I don't think we need a cogent argument.    Let me rephrase that, I don't need a cogent argument.   It's pretty plain.

I've done that already replying to you in this thread, only about a third of the salaries are known. It is unknown where Baker placed among other managers.
Rosenthal reported that Martinez was only making $850,000.

For the 3 years that the Nats are obligated to pay Martinez. They will owe him a total of 2.55 million dollars. Dusty was going to ask for more than that per year since he basically said in the media that he had been working at a discount (which is one of the things that pissed off the Lerners.)

Dusty was not in the top 25%

Note; This is the first listing of all the manager salaries I have even seen. It looks like it was released by USA Today 2 days ago.

I was unable to source this particular listing as PB69 said what we both saw was incomplete. According to this listing Dusty would be in the top 1/3.

To be fair to PB69, this wasn't available before yesterday I don't think. I've looked for this info multiple times this season and many times in the past.

Can we get back to the time honored tradition of second guessing the manager? Like why did he wait so long to yank Collins last night?

Kapler has been mentoring him.

Kapler gets beat up a lot.    How did the Phils manage to play so well?    Did the players make up for his mistakes?

Apparently the players love the guy. They have won lots of one run games. The starting pitching was much better most of the year. If they fall back to .500 that would still be a 12 game increase on their average wins over the last five years. Jury still out on him as far as I am concerned.

For a more interesting read than last night's box score, here is the play-by-play from Game 7, 1924. By the way, notice the real-ballplayer-names, like Frankie Frisch, High Pockets Kelley, Irish Meusel, Goose Goslin.

For extra pleasure, spot what Bucky did which had never been done in such a grand way, and the extra twist that no World Series manager has done since.

A 12-inning game played in 3 hours, despite the 3 intentional walks, done the olde-fashioned way

His starting pitcher was essentially a feint: he pitched to 2 batters and then was lifted for the real starter, who was a lefty.  I assume the idea was to get the Giants to change their lineup.

I was gonna mention to welch that the greatest managin' job in a WS 7th game was Danny Murtaugh in 1960.    The genius of havin' Maz bat in the bottom of the 9th.

Maybe, but Bucky planned it out: rookie RH Curly Ogden started so John McGraw, thought to be a baseball genius, started his left-handed lineup. That included Bill Terry, future HoF. Ogden was a spot starter. He was supposed to pitch to the first batter, while lefty George Mogridge warmed up under the Griffith Stadium grandstands. Ogden struck out the first guy, so Harris let him pitch to another batter, then put in Mogridge. That's probably the shortest start in a WS game, unless a pitcher got hurt.

Batted himself 2nd and went 3 for 5 including an HR, not a bad performance.

Catalan flag.  (I guess that's close to "Canadian".)  So I guess he's from Spain, probably Barcelona.

I noticed the flag avi in the past.   Wonder if he really is from Barcelona or simply a bandwagon Barcelona FC fan.

In the past I believe he has mentioned something about support for the region but I also recall him being much more articulate than he's been lately. Maybe the Baker ordeal has got him off his game. But he's never been fond of punctuation.

I need answers on why Cordero threw 42 pitches. I can’t be the only one who was wondering why the heck he was still in the game. Sure enough, Bautista singles in the go ahead run. Inexplicable.

Apparently Davey wanted to “see what Cordero’s got.”  “Stretch him out a bit.” That sounds like something you do in spring training. Not when your season is on life support.

Apparently Davey also thinks the boys are playing well. He’s made a habit of saying this recently.

NEWSFLASH: THE BOYS AREN’T PLAYING WELL. THEY HAVEN’T PLAYED WELL SINCE MAY.

At the end of May they were 33-23. Since then, they’ve gone 34-44.
