If the error doesn't take place (if Rendon holds on to the ball or makes the throw but the runner is called safe at 1B) the runner stays at 3B. He would've scored on the hit that followed

Without the E5 there's runners on 1st & 3rd. Freeman scores on the next hit.

Because it was ruled a hit. Would have been 1st and 3rd without the bad throw.

If they hadn’t ruled it a hit, the run would have been unearned, because the inning would have assumed to have ended without the error.

That’s the rule, but I don’t necessarily agree. I don’t think it’s a given that the next guy is getting a hit given that the situation is different.
