I don't like the way Alonso's pitcher throws a bit sidearm.

Vlad advances.  Will that have burned him out?

He's 20 years old, the youngest player to ever participate in the Derby.

Home Run Derby single-elimination tournament rules.

Players have four minutes to swing their hearts out.

If they hit two home runs of more than 440 feet, they get an additional 30 seconds.

Pitchers can’t throw until the previous ball has landed, (unless they are Bryce Harper’s dad.)
 8)

The winner will take home a $1 million prize, the largest Derby prize ever.

Looks like they're letting them all cheat this year........gotta run the HR totals up as high as possible. Maybe next year they'll hold the HR Derby in London.

The SportsGeek predicted these two rookies making the final, with Alonso beating a worn out Guerrero.

FINAL ROUND 2019

Vlad Guerrero Jr., TOR ( 8 ) - 22 HR (91 total but only this round counts)
        :worship:

Pete Alonso, NYM (2) - 23 HR = WINNER

$1 million to the winner, biggest prize ever.

Other Derby contests looked like they had a lot more youths catching balls in the outfield.

With 69 HR, and the final still to be played, Vlad Guerrero Jr's 69 HRs has already set a new Derby record for most HR in a single Derby, breaking Giancarlon Stanton's 61 in 2016 (which included that final.)

Nice...

Exciting derby. I had Alonso but I didn't think Vlady would get there.

I picked Vlad on the scientific basis of having chatted with his dad on Saturday

Vlad fell apart, he's a relief HR derby participant at best, not a starter. :)
