Nope, they need to play in a exhibition, for reasons that can’t actually be articulated

For our entertainment. How about that for a reason?

I’m wondering why the result of polling fans would be- do most fans care if a player on their team gets an at bat then goes home?

I thought he was sitting it out?

He's just going to have his name called out, (i.e., promote his brand), and to get a great seat at the game, (i.e., networking with the rich people.).
 :pimp:   :$$$:   :money:
He will not pitch, as he was replaced, so he cannot even be used as a pinch hitter...

The rich people will all tell him how dumb he was to take deferred money.

Will he be in a Nats uni in the dugout or sitting up in a luxury box sucking down free beer?

Alonso’s pitcher is killing him. Still enough to beat Santana.

Sure, you want to see your player get in even for just one AB.

Or a pinch runner for that late inning stolen base. But he could be the 8th inning walk off guy.

Not me. Best case scenario is they never leave the hotel.

Our players should be encased in plastic and only brought out for games.

Scherzer is there
Is he wearing an Expos throwback, a Gray's tribute jersey, the Patriotic blue, the Friday red alternative, or the basic Nats White or Gray?

Do you really think having a player (especially a position player) appear in the ASG really affects his performance in the second half? And, sure, injuries could happen. But he could also stub his toe on the hotel bed.

W/r/t Rendon, if you have a nagging muscle that you can still play with, then taking the only 4 days period you can give it a good rest in the hope it stops nagging makes a lot more sense than plane flights, interviews, doing warm ups, and possibly diving defensive or running hard on a hit.

OK, if someone is nursing nagging injuries then missing the ASG makes sense. But if the player is healthy, I say man up and do it for the fans.

To be fair, I'm pretty sure the vast majority of players are nursing nagging injuries by the All Star break. While the chance of an injury in any given game is low compared to, say, football or basketball, there are a hell of a lot of games and you play near constantly.

Rendon is catching heat because he already said he'd love to be an all star without actually having to go to the game.  So, he gets his wish, but you can't blame people for being skeptical of the hammy excuse.

Except this injury has been reported for a month and anyone who has seen him can tell he's hampered.

This is happening more and more though. In every sport.

Ovechkin even took the 1 game suspension rather than go to last year's allstar game.

All-Star games just aren't what they used to be. And really, who cares?

I would assume its more the sponsors who cares moreso than the overall fans.

:hysterical:

Glad Doolittle isn’t an All-star. Max might run onto the field prematurely again if they pitched him in one of the middle innings.

Here come the Nats!!!
