Former MLB Posters
« on: June 18, 2019, 07:10:12 pm »
When the MLB site shut down some frequent posters from that site moved over to here. Since then I noticed most rarely, if ever, post. Also, I noticed some longtime posters on here don't post anymore. Just wondering why. Of course since the MLBers and the former ones on here don't post anymore logic would say I won't get the answer.

Yep, he was one I was wondering about. He started posting on here for a short time. Quite a few would post on MLB all the time but not so much or not at all after initially posting for a while.

You certainly can’t be thin skinned if you want to hangout on this WNFF board.

There are some on this board that are not very merciful to the average or below average Nats fan that would simply like to chat some baseball and have their opinion heard without being belittled. Apparently below average “Twinkies” are NOT WANTED here.

Funny that this group of Ivy Leaguers can teach us all proper spelling and punctuation (and I am thankful for that  :D) but they don’t seem to know the definition of simple words such as affable, cordial, gracious, nice, pleasant, or neighborly. WT#?????

I do my part (electrical foreman) building data centers for Google. Every couple of years or so we (foreman) put $100 in the pot for a game of “the biggest a-hole” of the day - most complaints about you winner take all!!!
SCORING
1 point for, “what’s wrong with him”!
2 points for, “what an a-hole”!
3 points for, “he’s such a bastard”!
5 points for any of the above that also includes the F-BOOM.

I will participate more on WNFF when Google stops paying top dollar  :money:  or these Ivy Leaguers let me play in their game of “the biggest a-hole”.  :hysterical:

Go Naaaaaaaaats!!!

The MLB posters were 1) super negative and 2) dumb

I’m positive that some of them hated me. And to be honest I don’t care. If you don’t actually like the team and you don’t know anything about baseball, I have zero sympathy for you. Go hang out on a Phillies or Mets forum.

I for one don’t follow sports to feel like crap. The constant negativity was draining. Some people chose to leave because of it. Some chose to call folks out.

But I guarantee that just as many people have left here because of the negativity as have because of the “ivy leaguers.”

The fact that Sofie got pushed out, shouted down and crap upon until she couldn't take it really says all you need to hear about the MLB board.

There was one we both know who I know left because he was offended by some of the replies to his posts. We battled on the MLB board but the responses he got on here were on another level. Got to have thick skin and realize that when some think they know more than you it doesn't mean they do.

Did you know he had/has cancer? When someone seems that angry at the world I tend to investigate why. Having cancer didn’t give him the right to be mean or abrasive to others but I get it. I chose to try to lift him up instead of going on the attack with others to chop him down. I understand why posters would go after him but I’m a different breed I guess.

I can only speak for myself. I’m here because I love the game and enjoy talking baseball with anyone regardless of their knowledge level of the game. I’m certainly not here to prove I have more knowledge of the game than the other guy nor do I want the pressure to uphold that false belief. I truly didn’t  know much about the financial aspects and issues of the game so I have had a positive learning experience hanging around the Ivy Leaguers here at WNFF.
I haven’t had the time to play enough on WNFF to know whether some of the posters here are truly that abrasive or is it simply brotherly love??? My real brother and I can get into screaming matches about the Nats while at the same time he and I are laughing about how pissed off we can get each other.

Bottom line, if you’re a Nats fan I’ll find a way to make it work. It’s part of my built in tribal instincts  - - - -> F*#K  B-a-l-t-i-m-o-r-e!!!

Super liberal guy who regularly complained about pink hats at the ballpark and Nats Park mandates for hiring city residents. Doesn't get more Boston than that.

Scraps - speaking as one of the mods on the board, we really do care about not chasing people away.  There's a certain amount of people annoyed with each other and back and forth, which we don't try to stop unless it becomes the topic rather than just an aside.  Even then, we often just break it off.  About the only things we've run people off the board in the past 5 years or so would be out and out trolling by non-Nats fans and the occasional person who mostly thinks being online gives them an excuse for bigotry. Call that PC, but those posts tend to drive more folks away than we lose by not allowing them, and they have nothing to do with baseball.

I hope folks take it as decent back and forth when someone posts an observation and someone else pops back with "I don't agree, these are the numbers," or vice versa.

That's the one.  The She Hulk guy was pretty great too but I think he did come over here for a while but left when he realized it wasn't all out of touch old white guys.

Sorry to hear about the cancer. We had many disagreements. I think instead of going on the attack he would post stuff to try to aggravate. He was good at it. I enjoyed the back and forth. Hope he's okay.

You guys talking about Ken?  If so, he followed me on Twitter years ago and was actually good with interactions there.

Until I actually saw the She Hulk guy in person at Nats Park I almost thought it was a circ account for you and/or whoever Frank Pembleton was on the MLB boards.  Turns out that guy and Nuts023 really are just Autist Artists unleashed on the world and internet.

No, I wasn't going to use his name but I was talking about RichinDC. He later retired and moved to Myrtle Beach and was on here for a little while as RichinMB or something like that. He first got fixated on Drew Storen and later Ryan Zimmerman. We rarely agreed on anything but he didn't threaten people or was overly critical of people (other than Drew and Ryan). He was okay. I think he got embarrassed on here and decided to leave.

Rich was one of my favorite guys to interact with on the MLB site. He gave up on WNFF too quick.
