Bo Porter
« on: June 05, 2019, 06:51:45 am »
There will only be one Ray Knight, but I have come to enjoy Bo Porter.  He knows the game and does a nice job breaking things down.  I was skeptical at first, but he has won me over.  Kolko is still settling into his role, but he will improve and could be a mainstay.  I prefer his style to Johnny Holiday.  The on-field lady adds nothing.

Bo Porter is an Iowa Hawkeye all big ten in both football and baseball.

So that right there just makes him cool.

Bo is okay. Just ok. Kolko not so much.

We were spoiled with Johnny and Ray but Dan and Bo are growing on me.

Yeah, I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt. Let's touch base at the end of the season.

Bo's insight yesterday was essentially "relax with family, enjoy fathers day and go get em tomorrow" - what incredible insight for the homer Bo!  Ray would have had a great deal to provide as insight for what was a disastrous effort, poor homestand roll out, and what should be learned from this disaster of a game.

I think we are all running out of steam at this point.  The season is done and it's not even summer yet.  The Fire Davey thread has slowed because it's become apparent that will not happen and we are going to slog to a 70 win season, do nothing with Rendon and lose him this winter, and we are going to be forced to sit back and watch it.

I was thinking the exact same thing. If team management isn't going to bother to give the appearance about caring about their team's performance on the field or about their shrinking fan base why should I care.

I'll care (despite protestations) but not enthusiastically.     At this point, it's about Rendon's contract overall and good play on occasion from everybody else.      On topic, I still haven't warmed to the pre and post game shows.     Carol Maloney as a sub for Kolko doesn't get it done.

A losing season puts everything in a negative slant.

This. Sure the enthusiasm is not going to be there when they struggle but I find things to watch, like the performance of individual players. And, yeah, the pre- and post-game shows just aren't working for me right now. Kolko and Porter are a couple of stiffs up there.

Doubling down on a managerial fail for the reason of saving in the neighborhood of .005 percent of what team payroll is has that effect in spades.

As they were showing replays of pitches, that were no where near the strike zone, Bo defended Strasburg for crying to the ump about not getting calls. Pathetic...

Need a guy with the personality of the late Frank Robinson. And ... why are two people needed? A monologue from one interesting guy who would actually speak frankly is preferable to inanities from two hosts spouting the same cliches every broadcast.

Bo Porter speaks with too much intensity - like he is shouting at the audience.  Does anyone else pick up on that ?

I like Bo!
