If he ends up with less than $300 million, that has to be the end of Boras’s credibility as an agent

I think the biggest screwup here will be if Manny signs first, and for more than Bryce.

Obviously, Harper coming back to DC would be my best case scenario, as I've made it clear that he's totally my man crush.

But a Boras humiliating outcome would be my second choice.

It's kind of like my ex wife. I would have prefered that she stayed with me, but since that wasn't an option.... I can at least say I'm 1000 times better looking than her current husband.

Best of both worlds for you then, is if Harper comes back here on a one year contract for no more than 30m, max (sure, it won't happen, but that'd be pretty much the definition of what you want).

1 year/29 mil. And I want Ted Lerner to publicly say "Know Your Role" while addressing Boras.

I think there’s a good chance manny gets more - he’s more durable and plays a more demanding defensive position that has fewer comparable hitters

I sort of feel like Boars isn't doing right by Harper. If he only had his client's interests in mind, he wouldn't be putting stuff out there about record breaking contracts. It limits flexibility. Bryce could have signed a 3 year 100 million dollar contract  (or 2/67 or whatever) and been a free agent again at 28 or 29. But if you've been pumping the 500 million dollar narrative for several years, then it makes it much harder to do that.
That being said, people have been saying Boras has been overplaying his hand for years and yet his clients always seem to get the huge money...

You don’t hire Boras not expecting this to happen

I'd probably give him more money.

His job isn't to sound reasonable.  His job is to draw attention to his clients and get them paid.  He's done that better than anybody else, thus why he's at the top.

So what is Boras doing when he is talking about nurses, thermometers, and the Yankees? He gets deals because he represents big name players. Dan Lozano and Brodie Van Wagenen we're also top agents too, but I don't remember them telling organizations how to run themselves publicly. Lots of these top free agents are signing other agents too, so it isn't just Boras is top dog.

Assuming Ross will be on an innings limit.  His top total is 105 so 140-150 is the most he'll get.

Problem there is high probability that two of the three years would likely be like last season, with one great season maybe thrown into the mix.

wouldn't shock me if they brought in a 2d baseman for a look.  They could probably carry one on the MLB roster for a while if he shows anything in the Spring.

The words of Mark Scialabba - "Pass"

Lost nor gained anything in the Rule 5.

freak it, let's go all in. Sign Dallas, trade for Grienke, sign Harper to a 15 year, 600 million deal

And Martinez would get, what, maybe 85 wins out of that team?
