How would Branch Ricky characterize the Nats?

This from an article about Ricky in the MLB All Star program:

"...Ricky believed there are two groups(of players): there are players and then there are championship players.
Ricky called the first batch "anesthetics".........when you had a team of anesthetics you would wake up in September realizing  you were out of the race.
What Ricky wanted  was players who played with force and verve.
"Eddie Stanky ( this from a Ricky scouting report)
He cannot hit, he cannot throw and he cannot outurn his grandmother.  But if there is a way to beat the other team, he will find it."

Stanky was the White Sox Manager from '66-'68, and I met him on several occasions when I was down at spring Training in Sarasota 50+ years ago.  Nice enough fella...have his autograph on a ball around here somewhere...

Eddie Stanky and Phil Rizzuto: while I'm too young to have seen the play, nearly every season Bill White would mention Eddie Stanky. Each time, Rizzuto would yell, "Sanky kicked the ball out of my glove!"

This thread is a WEAK rationalization that doesn't make any sense.  The trouble with this year's Nats can be linked to injuries.

Why do you say that?  They do happen.  They have impacted other teams this year such as the Dodgers.

Puny ass single hitting middle infielders like Rizzuto and Stanky wouldn't even make it past Double A today. They couldn't compete against the Latin Americans. Same for Larry Bowa.
