I feel bad for Tom because I know that's gotta suck for a kid but damn that's a good story.

Mitlen, you suggested, perhaps years ago, a "life stories" thread.  I've been mulling that over since and, though I have some reservation, I also have quite a few short stories perking around that want light of day.  I have not had an exceptional life in any way but I have had some interesting experiences, as have most.  Some shall remain buried  :P  but others....

My grandparents were of that generation that still dressed up for ball games.  They stood out a bit in the Bronx in the late 70s
Dad took the family to a Yankees game circa 1972, we parked a couple of blocks away and when we approached the car after the game the doors were open and our stuff was strewn all about the place.  One suitcase was missing, which held my little flags I'd bought on our UN tour.    :'(

NY sucks.

they're lucky they weren't in the car when it happened  #littlevictories

Dad was mad and we drove around the neighborhood for a while, hell everyone was selling stolen #$%^ out of the trunks of their cars.  We finally slunk out of town but it didn't exactly wet my appetite for a return trip.  Sh*#hole.

I have NO doubt that you could fill one.  Wonder if there's a story limit to a thread.  Chief?

Like a "Nospinzone" but with tales of wild debauchery and moral turpitude instead of politics?  I might have a contribution or two, even from my innocent sheltered life

I lived in a questionable place back in the 70s  ....  stuff was missin' all the time in the building.   One day, the perps asked if they could use my place to sell some wares.    I sez, "Sure"     My buddy comes in and pulls me aside.   He sez, "Hey, that's my tennis racket.   What should I do?"    I sez, "Buy it.   They only want five bucks."

I can't believe the Bronx cheers haven't started.  Maybe the TV mics aren't very good.

It wasn't overwhelming evidence to justify overturning the original call
