It also wouldn't be a huge surprise if the "clubhouse is a mess" leaks came from the bullpen, since I think we can safely assume the "bullpen unhappy with the way Davey uses them" leaks came from them as well.

I like it.  Replace washed up douchers with talented youngins who are just happy to be in the show

Martinez said Kelley was DFA because slamming his glove was “disrespectful to the organization.” “It stinks. I’ve got a lot of respect for Shawn. But that wasn’t right.”

Yea .... still not hearing the whole story. But whatever. If this is Martinez taking charge, so be it.

No it wasn't...but that is indicative of the double standards being employed in that clubhouse.  No wonder there are reports of it being a mess...

IDK, Rizzo cut Steven Shell because he didn't like his "aura." Rizzo doesn't really freak with relievers, tbh. Pretty consistent.

Rizzo is a freaking stud.

@MarkZuckerman
Rizzo on Kelley: “You’re either in, or you’re in the way.” Thought he disrespected Martinez and others with on-field action. “It was something I didn’t expect, but it was something I couldn’t ignore.”

Are you trying to say that stars get treated differently than marginal players? Of course they do.

F*ck Shawn Kelly. Tell him to take his 5 million and pout somewhere else for having to do his job

If this is true, it’s dumb. Cutting a guy who has been effective recently  because he threw his glove?  Dumb. If it’s more than that, fine, but don’t insult our intelligence.
If he is doing this to send some message to folks that can’t be cut, that’s dumb too, because they won’t get it.

What happened is that Rizzo wanted to get rid of Kelley, shopped him, got no offers and then made up a lame excuse to cut him. Which could be fine, but don’t come with this weak ass platitude.

It happens in every sport my friend.

Do you think rookies care that veterans get days off in NFL training camp?

I don't get these freaking guys. You are getting paid tons of money to do a job. That job is pitch. When you get called upon get the freak out there and earn your freaking salary! I like tomterp's suggestion that they should've sat him down in front of the team and ask him that if he is too good for the mop up roll to point out who on the roster should've been  in.

I’m not going to lie, I think that my ultimate dream scenario is for someone to pay me millions of dollars NOT to work. Then I’ll know I’ve truly made it.

He didn't say he got rid of him only for his glove throwing antics. Read between the lines. And I think sending a message that players are going to be held accountable will impact the entire roster. Those who can't be cut will still realize that their crap won't be tolerated. Trade and benching are always options.

Another case of selective enforcement.    The clubhouse knows it and it's too late to impress Harper, Turner, etc.    A case of a lax management team trying to get tough.    It's laughable.

There's not a way around that really.   Turner got benched for somewhat similar behaviour, but maybe not quite the showing up the team or manager element.  It's not like they are going to release Turner for that.

We don't everything going on either.  After the Turner thing, maybe a warning was sent that the team wasn't going to tolerate anything like that.  Maybe the bullpen has been a catty mess all season and when they jettisoned Kintzler, they had a talk with the rest of the bullpen saying we need the rest of you guys to buy in and start acting like a team, and Kelley's tantrum would look pretty bad in that context.

Jimmy Cordero > Kelley

Rookie Monster Alert:  Pitcher who has never thrown to single batter in the Majors is better than a vet who's been pitching well.

I love the posters on here who criticize the front office for not being tough on the players and then second guess them when they are. ;)

So the positives are lies and the negatives are true.

In my experience they are both at minimum stretches of the actual truth.

What? Turner got benched like a week ago. They weren't just going to cut him.

The bullpen seems like it's be a squeaky wheel all season and to think they only cut Kelley because of last night is naive. Clearly between him and Kintzler there's been something going on. We need Doolittle back ASAP.
