What’s wrong with Madson? I don’t have much confidence in him anymore

Today he got freaked by Kendrick's error but he seems to have had a few matchups lately where he failed to put away the batter with 2 strikes and it's made him throw more pitches than he would like.

This isn’t the first time and it was earlier in the season IIRC

Some notes on a few #Nats relievers:
-Sean Doolittle ranks among NL relievers in WHIP (2nd, 0.48), opp. OBP (2nd, .157), opp. AVG (3rd, .085), and saves (T7th, 6).
-Brandon Kintzler's current 12.0 scoreless innings streak is T11th in NL and 2nd among NL relievers.

thinking that, if needed, Kintzler closes today and Doo is used as a LOOGY.  Solis moves to 7th inning clean with a lead.

Solis blows another one. Kintzler back to his old form.

I've lost count how many games our pen has blown. I think we are up to 8.

no way torres or suero should be touching playing time in a competitive pen.  Solis should be AAA shuttle back and forth insurance

Rizzo can't let this middle relief problem keep snowballing. Gott and Torres have to go. With Madson, Kelley, and Doolittle need to finessed through the season and we need someone who can go 1-2 innings semi regularly to keep the fresh plus am actual long relief guy.

Gott
Torres
Sueno
Solis

Gotta say, this is my biggest disappointment this year. I really thought the pen would be strong this year. When the re-signed Kintzler, I really thought this pen was going to be truly shut down.

Yep :(

Also, I thought Craig Stammen looked good last night. His velo is back where it was in 2012. Good movement. Would like to trade for him and Brad Hand.

It has to be so frustrating for our starters who consistently pitch their hearts out only to have our mediocre pen blow the game.

MLB ranking

Doolittle 13
Madsen 72
Kintzler 42
Solis 98
Kelly 187
Gott 278
Torres 283
Suero 225

https://www.rosterresource.com/mlb-washington-nationals

We have 5 relievers that don't belong anywhere near a MLB roster and Kintzler and Madsen are pitching like replacement level players.

How many years is our bullpen going to hold this team back? And the scary thing is we have no options to replace these guys.

If Solis is 98 and there are 30 teams doesn't that mean he is a number 3-4 bullpen guy on average?

#9 blown lead by the pen already
If you have time could you enumerate the 9 blown saves and who was responsible. I think we got rid of a few already ( Romero and Adams)but the remaining suspects should be performance shamed.
