Cards ERA is over 4. Maddux was overrated.

Not to disprove you, but according to Fangraphs:

Cards (ERA/FIP/xFIP) - 3.64/4.01/3.85
Nats (ERA/FIP/xFIP) - 4.02/3.61/3.38

That says to me the Nats are underperforming and unlucky on homers. As for the more ground ball oriented pitching coach, the Nats are third in K/9 compared to the Cards who are 13th in the majors. 10.85 to 8.61. That just means that it isn't on the pitching coach, it's on the pitchers on how they perform. So to agree with you, Maddux was overrated.

Koda Glover has been throwing from 75 feet, should be throwing from a mound soon.

Who is "Koda Glover"? Did the Nats trade for a new pitcher? An injured pitcher?

At which point he'll break his hip.

He won’t get injured actually playing/practicing.

It’ll be a freak injury involving an ice cube and some bubblegum.

I wouldn't expect to get any production out of Glover any time soon.

That's quite possible too.

All because a bar of soap. He had some nice stuff when he first came up. Honestly thought we finally hit young closer gold at one point.

I tried finding a list of any RPs still out there unsigned and was unable to do so. As someone else mentioned, there has to be a Hellickson type player out there we could give a shot.

Here is a list https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2018-mlb-free-agent-tracker/sort_column-team__sort_direction-1

Sort it by team to find the players with no teams/unsigned. It is not pretty.

Tim Collins will probably get a look soon. Sounds like neither Suero nor Glover are all that close, but tbh  I’d  rather have those guys for August-and-beyond than now (cause apparently you can’t have either one for a full season).

How come Cole isn't taking any heat (or maybe I missed it)?   Didn't he come in when we were behind one run - still a winnable game-  and he promptly gave up a grand slam, putting the game out of reach.  I swear I don't understand why he is still on the team. Out of options?  So what. Just dump him.  Put him on waivers, someone will claim him, and we'll at least get the waiver fee.

He came in with the Nats down 3 runs I believe.

What would be the point of pointing a finger at Cole? That's like yelling at a hurricane for being wet and windy. The Nats will part ways with Cole soon enough. If you DFA him now, who's going to take his place? Glover, Suero and Benoit are all on the DL, Adams probably ought to be on the DL since he's not pitched yet this season in Syracuse, and that's your 40-man rostered relievers.  The free agent market is a trash pile and while there may be some decent choices in Syracuse, none of them look really all that ready except for guys who are (and should stay) starters.

We will drag Cole's carcass around for a few more weeks, and once there's a suitable replacement for him, he'll be gone.

Cole serves a purpose.  He should be used as the human white flag or victory cigar.  The absolutely lowest leverage situations to take one for the team.  3 runs down, on the road, bottom of the 8th, runners on, game is pretty much in white flag territory.

If Rizzo hadn’t drafted for and then traded for cole he would be gone, but who is involved, so he’ll keep on sucking here for a while

Yep. And we gave him like 2 million to not go to college did we not?

How many years is this bull pen of ours going to kill us? We'd probably have Championship or 2 if we had a capable pen.

I felt like we had a fighting chance if Cole could have held them.

The Data doesn’t agree with you. The Mets had a win expectancy of 98.73% in that situation.

But I still agree Cole has got to go.

I'm gonna stump for Kelvin Herrera again. He seems to have found whatever was missing last year. There will be a move or two to be made in this area this summer.
