Players eligible to become free agents after a given season do not become free agent immediately upon conclusion of the season. There is a period (not sure how long) during which the player's team has exclusive negotiation rights and that period begins today.  (Unless the rules have changed.)

You're correct:  As of 9 a.m. on November 2, 2017 (11/2/17) or the day after the 2017 World Series concludes, all eligible players will become free agents. From there, a five-day period of qualifying offers begins. When that period concludes, all non-contracted players are free to sign.

It's 5 days, starting today.

So I'll put my question on the shelf until next Tuesday.

Based on what?

Just based on my untrained fans eye he never adjusts his swing to what the pitcher is feeding him because he has that Ian Desmond, Danny Espinosa approach of just swing for the fences baby........and the fact his main goal now seems ( I said seems..based on my perception )is to be paid more money than 7 Roman deities with a couple Greek and Nords thrown in

Did Espinosa and Desmond ever have an 11 win season?

Espinosa and Desmond Captain Obviously don't  have Harpers talent just the same singular  approach at the plate.....but 11 wins?...did they pitch?

He did not say WAR just 11 games.
Besides, WAR; what is it good for?

Absolutely  nothing.
What is Harper's playoff "WAR"???????

Maybe Harper would have more than an 11 game 'WAR" if he was not so self centered.

I try not to insult other posters who voice different opinions than myself or those who Captain Obviously have a superior baseball intellect than myself. Maybe discussion would be more diverse and free flowing around here if the insults about taking piss test and the like were not to  so common.

Or maybe it is preferred we all sit around with others saying "I agree" ..."You agree?"..."Yeah, I agree'. I agree  I agree I agree I agree

With a .211 post season average it’s not good.

imref,

"From his status as a gifted first-round draft pick who will be a core Houston star for years to come, to his resilience in the past month while he battled a horrid hitting slump to his decision long ago to use his baseball notoriety to stand for a larger cause than himself, Springer exemplifies the best in all of them." (from Boswell)

Maybe Harper will become a Springer.....if not....

This statement is ridiculously untrue, and based on nothing.  I supposed everyone else either has you on ignore or is just ignoring your troll posts.  He strikes out at a very low rate, has hit well over .300 (and OBP over .400) for most of the last 3 seasons, flirts with a 1:1 K/BB ratio while his contemporary sluggers are flirting with 2:1 ratios.

He was great in 2014 playoffs, had no power for whatever reason in 2016 and just took a lot of walks (the opposite of swinging for the fences), and this year, he was obviously not all the way back yet, but just trying to do whatever he could to help.

Okay, so how about you remove at bats against guys like Kershaw and Mad Bum if you take away the weaker ptichers?

1-5 with a walk against Kershaw. 0-2 with walk against Bumgarner.

Turns out, he can only feast on pitchers who hang pitches middle in.

.333 OBP against two of best pitchers in baseball...
And that’s not the biggest sample size anyway.
