Sound Track for NLDS Failure
« on: October 13, 2017, 12:42:26 pm »
I sent an email to some of my ticket group identifying appropriate songs titles for the NLDS. My first two thoughts were "Oh, well" by the Peter Green era Fleetwood Mac, and "Same Old Song and Dance" by Aerosmith.  One of my group members suggested 3 other songs - the Four Tops "It's the Same Old Song," the Beatles "I should have known better" and the Stones "Paint it Black."

So, got a tune?

I'm guessing Dusty will sing this on his way out the door:

One from the obscure files - 'Like Falling Sugar' by The Palace Guard, from 1966. It never charted nationally at all but got a lot of airplay in California when I lived there, and some may remember their drummer Emitt Rhodes who had a couple of hits with The Merry-Go-Round a year later and as a solo singer a few years after that ('Fresh as a Daisy').

But our hitters in this series sure did 'tumble down like falling sugar' as the song put it.

We need a new catchy song to sing and rally around before we can actually do crap in the postseason. I nominate Seal's "Kiss from a Rose" which is an absolute masterpiece.

Oh, well. Better than the studio album which has about 5 minutes of wasted stuff. this is <3 minutes and is great guitar (Dan Kirwan too).

Yep, no idea why they keep trotting that out, especially with the associated history.

Then isn't your question why was Morse there ?

The whole thing was really awkward. Just kind of trying too hard to recapture a moment.

Yeah but what moment?  One of my most vivid recollections of game 5, 2012, was hearing that stupid song and at the instant it ended Morse hits a line drive for a single  (which ultimately led to what we all thought was an insurance run).  It was a beautiful moment at the time but it has become an ugly memory for me.

You'll get no argument from me. I don't get the whole infatuation with Morse years after the fact.

Have we forgotten "Take Me Out" by Franz Ferdinand? At the height of its popularity it was played at many MLB stadiums when an opposing pitcher was yanked from the game for a poor performance.

"Why Didn't We Do it on the Road"  Beatles (adapted). Signifying that if we could have just won game 4 in Chicago we wouldn't have had that doomed game 5.

We did win Game 4.  Did you mean Game 3, or that we should have lost Game 4?

On topic:  "Love in An Elevator" by Aerosmith. Living up as we're going down.
