He can win without getting to 502.  There's a rule that says if he would have won by going 0 for whatever the number of PAs needed, then he wins the batting title.

Yes this is correct. But as he stands now, doing that would drop him to 4th in BA and 2nd in OPS. He needs those PA's. It would be helpful if he walked in all of them.

What's more important: Harper winning the batting title or Harper being at his best when the playoffs start. Walking alot isn't going to help him get ready.

If he's batting 2nd ahead of Rendón, Murphy, and Zimmerman, I think I'm okay with a 100% walk rate.

If you are to believe the Sabermetrics folks, yeah, it'd be perfectly fine given the rest of the hitters. Hell, I'd be happy if they walked Murphy and Rendon after him and we had Zimm/Werth/Weiters/Taylor/Robles/Kendricks with three chances and juiced bags.
