you obliviously don't watch the same team-----you go to the playoffs ----IF we get there with -----Gio and Roark and fredde starting 3 of every 4

If Strasburg dies like you assume he will, they will acquire another starting pitcher.  Fedde isn't pitching in the postseason.

You realize how often starting pitchers go on the DL, especially now with the 10 day DL?  Hellickson and Strasburg are not seriously injured.  Do you propose that we go out and trade for a top starter every time somebody is going to be out a few weeks with some minor thing?  Why didn't we get a 3B to replace Rendon?

Hellickson is due back as early as this weekend. Stras hasn't started baseball activities.

People seem to be placing a lot of faith in Hellickson. I hope I'm wrong but I'm expecting him to turn to crap at some point this season.

Right, but there is no indication anything is serious with Stras.  It's the typical being cautious with your top arms.  Very few guys are making 32 starts a year anymore.  Stras won't be out long.

Faith?  I think people think he's been fine as the 5th starter.  Low bar for a #5 starter.

the starting rotation  you can manipulative  what you want but the post we need SP because right now we have a lousy rotation
Why do we need a SP right now? Is there a reason we can't wait until Strasburg and Hellickson are back?

Unless we find out that something way more serious is wrong with Stras putting his return in jeopardy, then we're fine.  I would entertain adding a Game 3 postseason starter at the deadline, however.  It's a small sample size in the long run, but Gio just doesn't give you confidence there.  It might be a guy that Gio is better than in the regular season, but has had postseason success and shows mental toughness.  Like when the Cubs added Lackey.

Did you pull that from the same calculator that told you missing 2 out of 5 starters is 60% of them gone?

That’s better than the 87.3% they had us at on 6/20/15

You never know, they might trade a pitcher to a contender at the trade deadline. :stir:

We were looking for someone not as good as Gio in regular season, but with some postseason success.  Joe Ross was a disaster in postseason.

Obviously there's no room for you to stick anything else where the sun don't shine, since your head is already up there.

OK, you've both had a chance to show your wit. Now if we are going to talk about sticking something, how about sticking to the topic?

we need to trade for someone who swings a big stick, and who preferably plays catcher.

How's that?
