Hope the game ends before the last pumpkin train pulls out.    Otherwise, we'll be playin' in a half empty stadium.
Its Saturday, fans do not have that excuse today.

But it sounded even funnier.

My maternal grandfather's favorite expression was "This way up over here."

We never knew exactly what that meant, but back then, if he'd broken out the Old Fitzgerald, it didn't really matter.

No...what's that?

I have no idea where it originated in the local (Pittsburgh) language but it means "clean up your room".

"Red" is the phonetic spelling.    I have no idea how you'd actually spell it.   :)

Who needs verbs when you've got past participles?

Mom had a friend she grew up with in Philly who moved to Chicago. They used to visit with their kids every summer. The daughter was about my age. She had this expression one summer where if someone said something she thought was dumb she would say "how noble". Except it came out to us as "hob nabble". So took us the whole week she was there to figure it out. Luckily we had no accents so she could understand us. 😂

It's Scotch-Irish. Redd up. It means clean up.

No, once captured in a quote the misapplication of the apostrophe is preserved for austerity.   Unless you're a mod, in which case you can go back and fix all the captured quotes as well.
