It's a game, and that game was tied. Leave early because the MIGHT lose?  Put it in perspective.

Some people have lives.

I stuck around all 18 innings and it was by far the worst sports experience of my life. Sweet waste of a night!

I know there are plenty of well adjusted folks on these boards, and I like to lurk here to learn, but you people in this thread are sad.  Forget that it's just a game and take it so personal like you represent all 40k seats of a professional stadium.  Jesus Christ.

I literally have pictures on my phone of a half empty stadium.  I was there.  And it was upper 50's low 60's.  Boo hoo.  I was in a jersey too, it was a little chilly but hardly so cold people had to huddle around bathrooms.  Maybe you're the problem too.  It was a Saturday night post season game.

The fact that you're justifying leaving early because you're too emotionally immature to deal with the IDEA of losing a game is hilarious.

If you didn't notice that people in T Shirts and shorts who moved from the wind ripped seats to areas where they could watch from a warmer vantage point, maybe you weren't there. I've dealt with worse weather, but that doesn't mean everyone was prepared or willing to put up with it. The reality is that some people were freezing their asses off while watching one of the worst games ever. So if they left, I don't give a crap.

That's absolutely true but you're wrong if you don't think that plays a part in the outcome of a big game. Players notice it, clearly they do as they are commenting on it.

DC is a solid baseball city because it's affluent but it can't compete with certain fan bases who live so vicariously through the outcome of sports. I was visiting a friend in Pittsburgh a few weeks ago, he said it goes DEAD in a lot of neighborhoods when the Steelers lose. These people live for their team and it comes across in big games.  DC absolutely has those kinda fans but they also have front runner smucks who don't care about the games but want to be at an event.

Do you think fans are leaving early on a SATURDAY NIGHT POST SEASON GAME in Boston, St Louis, __(insert about 15 other cities here___) No.

In Pittsburgh 7 or 8 years ago, they weren't getting 20K for baseball .   I remember going to Steelers' games in the 60s at Pitt Stadium and sitting in the endzone.   I could spit and not hit another person.    These are the sons and daughters of the blue collar people telling you stories about people who didn't give a dip about the Steelers.   High School football was more important.   Still is in some quarters.    They didn't give a dip about the Pirates either in the 60s (after the WS of '60).    It's a city/county that voted against new stadiums for the Pirates and the Steelers.   I got out of the Army and went to Steelers' games  ...  last minute walk up.    Same with the Penguins and the Pirates.   They started winning and the fans showed up.   Let's not make it something it ain't.

The reality is that that would never happen in a lot of other cities.  That's my original point.  Get a grip and stop taking it so personal.

If fans are so critical in baseball stadiums, I still need someone to explain how the Astros are doing what they are doing while being # 22 this year in attendance.

Great analysis.  You'd be a mighty fine researcher with that sort of all-or-nothing logic.

I am not the one that saying the crowd is important in baseball. You are. This isn't football son. Now explain how the Astros or Pirates are pulling it off.

lol you're dumb

Explain how there are a number of factors that go into a real world scenario and you can't just isolate one as the absolute root cause?
