I am not optimistic about how this will end up.

Should've left Fister in :smh:

Bill James says, a manager's job isn't done until he finds the reliever who doesn't have it, that day.

Every move Matt makes backfires. With 2 outs and nobody on base there was no reason to use a pinch hitter in the last inning. Putting up another scoreless inning was more important.

He should have went home right away instead of touching 1B.

I thought he did, too. Got him on the helmet before he tagged him.

Zimm could have gone to 2nd base and got the last out.

Why not go to 2nd?

The force was off so he would have had to tag him out.

Kinda looks like Lobaton got the tag in right before. Not clear enough to overturn

Zimm screwed up.

Yup.

Why not go to 2nd?

Well then the runner is in a rundown and while he's dodging the run scores anyway, right?

Zimm could have gone to 2nd base and got the last out.
He should have gotten the force at 2nd and taken the throw back. Then the runner couldn't have scored. If he'd gone to 2nd after getting the force, it would have been really close to tag him before the run crossed the plate.

Bob was right...it becomes a tag play at second once you record the force at first and the run counts if it crosses the plate before the tag.

same old story. Matt takes out Fister who is cruising and puts in Thornton who has been a gascan all season. Of course he craps the bed.
