Absent a perfect stat, ERA is a general indicator of how his season is going and it's not so great. He's had no more than six quality starts all year, flashes of brilliance in another disappointing season.

Career ERA of 3.19. I haven't been disappointed in him at all, other than this year when he was clearly messed up due to injury/mechanics.

WAR isn't much better than ERA, and in any case a 3 WAR isn't anything to brag about, we didn't lose 100 games for a third or fourth starter.

I think we expected some improvement but nothing like the stellar year he's having. The dude is putting up Triple Crown type numbers. And, no, I'm not saying he's going to win the TC.

Disagree. He's been talked about being a once in a generation talent. Last year was a disappointment. We've been expecting A-Rod or Bonds level numbers since we drafted him.

I guess it depends on your expectations of him this year. Mine were not to the A-Rod or Bonds level given his actual performance prior to this year. But next year, I do expect that kind of performance given his performance this year. In other words, "the best is yet to come, won't it be fine." (From his walk up song.)

Yep, faced 2014 2nd-rounder Jacob Lindgren this year, who was a few months younger than him, I believe.
