Bullcrap promises form an underwhelming player. He should shut his mouth and put out before making claims like that.

:lmao:

What a hot freaking take.

Except in the playoffs where it mattered. Guess you forgot.

Yup. As far as I'm concerned he's the only one allowed to talk big.

I have a friend who hates Bryce so much that it's shocking...you know, given that he's never met him or anything.

Take away the idiot Strickland and what do you have? Meh. Only Strickland was stupid enough to throw fastballs on the inner half to Harper.

I don't have any issue with what he said. It was entertaining. Nice to see a guy with personality. He isn't the first guy to gush over his pitching staff. Who cares what other teams think about it. They are concerned about their own players and really shouldn't be paying attention. I mean what the hell are they going to do about it anyway? People think other teams magically play better when a guy on another team gets cocky? Please. Bryce is the real face of the franchise and the emotional leader. Nice to see some excitement and high expectations.

Bryce is one of those guys who you love if he's on your team and not so much if he plays for the other guys.

Yeah, he hit the guy who is literally named after a propane company. Let's not look too much into his tiny sample of playoff performance.

If Bryce Harper does not hit 42 homers in 2016, when he's 23, I will admit that he is behind Harmon Killebrew's schedule. If so, Harper might not even make the Hall of Fame. Until then, Harper looks pretty good.

What happened to wanting to play your whole career in Washington?

Everyone. Literally everyone here in DC knows he's gone as soon as he's a free agent.

bullcrap- how many people talk about not extending guys or Scherzers contract structure in terms of saving money for Harper? This town has a football outlook when it comes to free agents -i.e. too many people assume that if a team wants a player they won't let him go

Not sure, but since he's four seasons from free agency I think he was talking about a championship window and not contract status.

Reading an entire quote is fun!

Quote
“I absolutely love this organization,” Harper said. “I love the city that I play for. And I’m not done here. Like I said before, five years ago when I first signed here: I’m going to bring back a title to D.C., no matter what. I’m getting chills thinking about it. I mean, I absolutely want to do that for this city, this town, and I don’t care how long it takes me. I’m going to stick and do what I need to do to help this organization win.

“They showed me what they wanted and how they wanted to do it, and got that deal done. I’m here for the next two years definitely, and I’m excited to get going this year and doing the things that I need to do to bring a title back to D.C. and hoist that trophy over the monuments.”

He's signed through the next 2 years for sure, and then is arb eligible. He's just being literal!

We have an insanely talented player who has so much passion for the game and makes the game so much fun to watch and so many of you worry about the dumbest freaking things.

He was asked about the 2-year contract he signed during the contract dispute.

I think that if you PAY THE MAN HIS MONEY, he stays. Right now there's a huge disconnect between what he and Boras probably want (100% of what his most optimistic projection should get) and what he legitimately has earned as a very-good-but-not-great player thus far.

I think there are a lot of people who think he wants to take off and go to the Yankees, even if we offered the same amount of money. I don't think so.
