They wouldn't put informing players ahead of making a final decision, he was notified by twitter like everyone else.

His agent told him.

I want to be perfectly clear because I've heard this from all angles now: the trade was DONE, pending medicals. And now it's not happening.

Well that settles that:

Not happening tonight, not happening tomorrow, not happening Friday. Carlos Gomez will not be a Met.

Sources: #Mets backed out of trade due to concern over hip issue with #Brewers’ Gomez.

Following this Scott Boras proceeded to tear the Mets a new one and go on about how Gomez have never had hip problems or seen a hip doctor in the entirety of his career and has played without issue.

The Mets' ability to freak up routine baseball business is just on another level.  They are like the 27 Yankees of incompetence.

And their fans still want to trade like Niese and Herrera for Trout.

To wake up to find out that the CarGo trade fell through like this brings me great joy. Makes my day.

Imagine how WNFF would be reacting if this happened to the Nats.

Seeing how much being a Met meant to Flores, if I was a met fan, I'd be happy that he's still a met

It would have been a bad deal for the Mets. They gave up too much. So in a way I would have been happy if went through too.

Wheeler had more than a UCL replaced, he also tore his flexor tendon which puts his arm injury in a different category of risk.

Oh, that doesn't sound good. Maybe that's why some were suggesting a straight up trade for Flores would have been good.

I think he was just depressed about the thought of playing in Milwaukee. Going from New York to Wisconsin would make me cry too.

Mets are a joke though. Seriously, we gotta blow these clowns out of the water. That they're this close to us is a joke(yeah yeah I know injuries blah blah blah).

The deal was dead within hours of being reported and while one team was playing, nobody had a physical.
So why was Flores crying?
