That was during the offseason. You know, when the best reliever free agency class in ten years was available. David Robertson, Andrew MIller, Luke Gregerson, Fransisco Rodriguez, Pat Neshek, Luke Hocheaver, Jason Grili, annd Jason Motte ... all avilable. All outperforming everyone not named Drew Storen. Nice work.

Am I the only one here that thinks the Mets are a real threat? I know they are only 2-6 coming out of the ASB, BUT.....they lost 2 of 3 in St. Louis, which is a result I would take. They lost 2 of 3 to us, but were one improbable 8th inning rally from winning 2 of 3, and they have lost 2 in a row to the Dodgers, who beat us at home last week. They have played 3 division leaders in a row so only losing 1 game to us is not bad. I know their offense is bad, but that starting pitching will win them some games. They have 3 at home against the Padres before playing us again in NY with their top 3 starters lined up again. I don't feel good about where we might be after that series.

I can't see the Mets winning more than 85 games. If the Nats can't do better than that, then they don't deserve to make it.

I was, if they were going to make a splash for a bat, but I think the Johnson/Uribe trade kinda nixes that.

Hamels is no hitting the Cubs through six on what would be his last start if he's traded. He had been perfect until just walking Fowler.

FYI, the Nationals have the current 5th longest not no-hit streak in baseball. The Cubs have the longest...as the bottom of the 9th begins...

I think the Mets are a real threat. They have Harvey, Syndegard, de Grom: three fine pitchers and all young. Plus Matz, who has not been at MLB level more than a few games but who looks as good as the big three. Any team with superior pitching is a threat. If the Mets had a few hitters...

That's it...barely. Kris Bryant almost had the final out drop in because of a terrible misplay in the outfield but he got it.

Hamels was absolutely spectacular today.

According to my Trade Rumours app they are hustling to try to get some help. They've been talking Zobrist, Upton, Tulo, Clippard...

If they grow a set of balls and make the deals they need to make, watch out.

If they don't, whatever.

But Rizzo can't and won't stand pat. No way no how.
