Wolf Blitzer*
"Forty-three percent of the U.S. population believes there is too much freedom in the press. Twenty-two percent of the U.S. people believe government should censor newspapers.  But 100% of Nasty Nats fans believe that the Cardinals are a bunch of nag ass busters in need of a savage beat down.  I'm so ready to see my good pal Ian Desmond embarrass Lance Lynn I'm letting Tucker Carlson handle my duties in the 'Situation Room' tonight.  Just kidding.

I have no idea what to think of this 'StatCast' that's going to be unveiled tonight.  Will knowing how hard a ball is hit really get people that find baseball boring more interested in the game?  Do people really need 'StatCast' to tell them that Jason Heyward has insane range or that Gio [Gonzalez] has some nasty breaking pitches?  Most of this just seems too 'in the weeds' for me.  That Brian Kelly seems to be getting excited about this makes me doubt it's going to be anything more than a distraction, but 'StatCast' could be fun.  To be fair, I'd rather be forced to spend 48 hours trapped in a locked shipping container with Don Lemon and a broken Nightrain bottle than listen to Brian Kenny split hairs over esoteric stats, but that's just me.

My call - the Nasty Nats will score six thanks to the long ball with Harper and my buddy King Ian Desmond putting them onto the Red Porch.  Gio pitches seven shut out innings to beat the Redturds 6-0."*

*Obviously this is not a real quote by Wolf Blitzer and is intended only as satire.

No rain is expected today; tomorrow could be a bit more problematic though as 55-65% chance of rain is forecast from noon through 18.00 that day.

[per weather.com hourly forecasts]

Why wouldn't it be?  The sun is shining and it's not supposed to rain at all this afternoon.  If they can't get the field ready almost 20 hours after a fairly short rainstorm, then something's wrong.

Real test for Gio today. Don't think he's cut out for it. Hope I'm wrong.

The field is soaked because of Bob Carpenter's drool.  It will be replayed in August.

It's gonna be bumped at some point to AM.    Caps and Wiz will be on the FM stations   ....   per 106.7 sports update earlier.

Usual suspects   ...  If any/all the games get out of hand, I'm headin' to Richmond for an early morning clan meeting.

Every time I see "Jon Jay" in the line-up, I think Supreme Court.
