Its weird to think Manning has a defense that can carry him through a game.

Mitlen - you catch Antwan Randle-El saying he made the wrong choice playing in the NFL rather than signing with the Cubs?  His health is pretty messed up now.

There's a "series" in the Post Gazette that includes the Randle-El story.    When I first read the piece, I was shocked.    After it sunk in about the problems he was having, it made a lot of sense.

Watching the NFL makes me feel like I'm watching the gladiators at the Coliseum sometimes.  It is a thrilling competition, but really kind of sick to get such a buzz off of others more or less getting destroyed for my entertainment. NFL films even used to promote the gladiator aspect of the combatants.  George Carlin was spot on with his baseball v. football routine.  Then you get Goodell's attempts to control the image and his overall pettiness.  But, I'm a hypocrite and I watch, at least my team.  I cringe more at the big hits these guys give now, and maybe I like precise passing and straight ahead run blocking (more conventional hits than "blowing up" guys) because of it.  I still think that with modern conditioning guys are stronger and faster but their bones haven't caught up.
