My only concern with Rendon is health. He's had trouble staying healthy as a younger player. How will he age? I see a ton of parrallels to Zimmerman. Can Rendon play 3B at an elite level and stay healthy for years and years to come? If he's going to be often on the DL and eventually need to move off 3B to 1B later in his career, what's his value then?
He's averaged around 145 games a year for the last 3 years, and has only once missed signifiant time so I'm not too worried about his health. How he ages is a fair question, but Zimm fell apart due to shoulder injuries. We don't have anyone in the system coming along to replace Rendon, so I'd think a 5-6 year deal with a couple of mutual options would make sense if he'd take it.
This guy is an elite ballplayer. I don’t need a silly all star game to validate that. The model of consistency..311 avg .913 ops gold glove defense He’s played his career in the shadows of more hyped players, but it’s time to make him a franchise player. Signing Rendon long term should be the #1 priority this winter.
Do you have anything intelligent to say other than WTF?
Is "WTF" intelligent now?
Chelsea Janes@chelsea_janesAnthony Rendon on an extension: “I’m up for it.” Says they’ve been working on it for a year or so. Hopes they can come to terms
Any consensus on what we offer him?
I mean, if I'm him, I point to my WAR and ask where my 300 million dollar offer is
I'd rather spend that on him than that other fella that used to play here...
you're asking to be labeled a "hater"
6 for $150M
I would do that in a heartbeat...
Beatin' the drum but I see Rendon as I do Oshie. Maybe not the top dog but I'll pay for the extras he brings.
interesting that we're publicly discussing trying to extend Rendon a year before his deal expires, but there was no hurry to try and extend Harper.
