yesterday was quite a nippy day even before the sun went down. Foolish not to bring a good jacket.

Individual stupidity didn't change the temperature...check the weather and be prepared next time...it's no secret it was forecast to be in the 30's last night.

I'll try again. No one expected to be there at midnight when it was 40 degrees. They thought they would be out of there hours earlier when it was much warmer.

People probably had movie tickets or something like that.

My kid and her husband booked an 11:15pm movie in Alexandria from their seats in the 3rd inning.  Needless to say, they ate those tickets...

Buddy of mine was supposed to take his gf out for her birthday after. He was a tad late. He left after 15 because I think she was ready to dump him if he didn't show.  :hysterical:

Alright, what about Zucks tweet right above your post?  Sounds like he agrees there were many that left not just 'relocated'.
Don't forget that Zuckerman would have been sitting at the tip-top of the stadium behind home plate, in the press box, which would given him a poor view of the fans.

The people behind and around home plate could retreat to the warm in-house premium clubs, and watch on the TVs in those places, while being served from the bars within. Zuckerman couldn't see any of those people, or any of those in the bathrooms and concourses.

There was a biting cold 21 mph wind at 2 pm when it was sunny.  It was forecast to be cold at the game. Gorilla suit weather.

It was another reason why the Nationals batters should have STOPPED swinging for the fences on every pitch.  The ball wasn't going to carry, if they managed to hit one of those pitches at their ankles.

56 degrees with a 21 mph wind at game time. That's not really warm.

I don't think so, with the breezes and such it felt like 40's/50's for most of the afternoon.

I walked into the park at 3ish wearing a long sleeved shirt. Then I started layering up as the temp dropped. Even broke out the Curly W blanket for my wife. Had it for years but have never used it.

He should've dumped her first.

This.  A thousand times over.  Just string together a hit or two and get Petit in the stretch.  Ugh.

Well, except for that ball Belt hit, but....

I was joking! That really sucks. I'm glad my girlfriend is born in November.

Long ago, I learned that anything below 50 degrees feels "unbelievably" cold if you are standing or sitting in one place.

I was wearing tee-shirt, ordinary shirt, sweatshirt, and wool "Old Senators" jersey. Usually too hot for the Old Senators wool, and it felt warm before the game. (And delighted to meet CALSGR8, TomTerp, and Powerboater!). By the 7th inning I was looking to buy an extra sweatshirt, but the two or three at the mini-team store (near Blue Smoke) were about $80. Put on a thin raincoat I'd worn down to catch the bus from NYC (it was raining here). Zipped up, buttoned up, but shivering. Weather forecast was for a low of about 45, but I never guessed we would be watching baseball that late.

In the 18th, the wind died down. I checked the flags all night. Doubted anyone would hit a home run to LF or CF. Anything hit in the air to right was being pushed foul or just slowed some. We had moved around to seats on the 1B line in the 16th or 17th. Saw the flags just hanging. No breeze.

For the record Spidey, I watched the entire game from start to finish.

I'm sure that's earned you bonus points in Spidey's book of fandom

Back in the day when I was dating, if the girl didn't like baseball she was on borrowed time.

My wife's birthday is in August, mine in September, and our anniversary is in September, and we've spent all three at the ballpark at one time or another over the years.

My girlfriend has no issues attending 3 games in Seattle and pays attention when she is home during a game...but I wouldn't say she cares. As a Canadian that is pretty lucky.

They leave days for tiebreakers

You can leave one freaking day for a tie-breaker and then force the wildcard teams to have to travel.  You know?  Like penalizing a team not built to win a division?  Like, make the regular season actually mean something?

It wasn't a problem for the Red Sox or Cardinals last season

The American League sucks and the Cardinals didn't exactly run away with their division.  Did either of them get a four-day break?
