It's tough to watch Taylor at the plate right now.  After his amazing debut he has been about as overmatched as I have seen any young hitter.  I say continue to let him play and let Werth heal as long as we keep winning, but wow.........

Remember Chico Walker?  I wouldn't be surprised if you don't.  He came up in 1980 with Red Sox.  In his first six plate appearances, over a couple games, he had a home run, four singles and a walk.  Then he finished his 11-year career with 299 hits. 

I watched Taylor's first game thinking, "Good, just don't be Chico Walker".  I don't even know how I remembered that guy.  He's being Chico Walker-ish right now, but I'm sure he'll have a better career.  I hope so, anyway.

IIRC Mike Trout was awful when he was first called up in 2011.

Not saying Taylor is the next Trout or anything, but it does take time. Major league pitching is a whole other animal.

And didn't he only play 2-3 games with Syracuse before he got called up? He could definitely use a season of AAA pitching.

He won't be learning anything from AAA pitching, as they don't typically have the best stuff and are mostly old MLB vets being used as number 6 or 7 starters.  Makes more sense to have him finish up in the majors, but obviously not as a starter this year while in the pennant chase.

Taylor will be very useful come playoff time in pinch running situations. He's gotta work on his confidence. Basically BMT is a A.M.I.T. "Alpha Male In Training" he needs to go sarging with Desmond and Harper, should up his swag a couple points.

Souza seems to be healing. When Souza is ready, Taylor should go back to AAA and spend a season adjusting to pitchers who throw breaking stuff. Taylor had three or four games at AAA. He's still a Double-A star.
