Bobble Head Questions
« on: August 02, 2014, 04:31:04 pm »
How early should you arrive at the stadium if you want to be sure & get one?  Is it a mob scene or an orderly line?  When do the stadium gates open for a 7:05 p.m. game?

Centerfield gate opens 2-1/2 hours before game starts, all other gates open 1-1/2 hours before game starts.

For a 7 pm game, Centerfield gate opens at 4:30 pm, all other gates open at 5:30 pm.

Since they give out over 20,000 bobble heads, it is not necessary to get there when the Centerfield gate opens.  I would estimate about 2,000 - 3,000 people at most show up to wait for the gates to open (Harper bobble head was pretty crowded).

It is not always orderly, especially when they do not make it clear where the fans should line up at the Centerfield gate.  The fans get there early and start lining up, but they do not know for certain which individual gates will be opened until the staff start setting up about 1/2 hour before the gates open.

If you want to be safe, you should get there at least 90 minutes before game start time. Less than 60 minutes and you run the risk of being shutout.

Distribution is very orderly. And now you can get them at all the gates.

in our experience, the secondary gates (LF/Home) are much better, shorter lines and a much higher chance of getting a bobble head.

Is there a way to get one without going to the stadium?

Okay - one of you says it's disorderly and another says it's orderly.  Maybe it's more orderly now than it was before??

I'm going tomorrow and I'll let you know how I make out.  Not only am I nervous about getting the Gnome but apparently traffic in DC tomorrow is supposed to be all screwed up.

Never a dull moment.

i'm going as well.  Without traffic it's an hour to 75 minute trip, we're leaving 3 hours before game time because of the projected traffic mess.

The last bobbble head game, I believe it was Spann, they actually opened the 1st base gate along SCap St early with the centerfield gates.  There was no one in line at all.

Also, what traffic problems are you talking about?  The US-African summit?

Yes, it's the US-African Summit and I've read several places that DC traffic is going to be awful.

Also, for the Harper bobblehead game at the beginning of July, we got bobbleheads at the right field gate

stub hub prices have gone crazy for tomorrow considering it is a Tuesday night game against the Mets.  I am guessing this gnome is the most sought after toy yet.

At a previous game, they were supposed to hand out kids' socks.  The vendor didn't come through in time for the game so the Nats gave us info to get in touch with the vendor who will honor the promotion and send the socks late.  I'm still looking for them.

I think he was saying lines outside the stadium at the CF gate were sort of disorganized. But once you get in it's very easy just to walk up and get them.

I also suggest going to non CF gates.

I think not. Secondary market is your best bet, I think.
