Follow the Prospects: Jefry Rodriguez, RHP

Jefry Osvaldo Rodriguez

Height: 6'5

Weight: 185

DOB: 07/26/1993

Hometown: Haina, Dominican Republic

Position: Pitcher

Drafted: International Free Agent

•Jefry Rodriguez was the opening day starter and made 12 starts all told for the GCL, going 3-0 with a 2.45 ERA anda a 43/20 K/BB ratio in 48 innings.  The 19-yr old DSL graduate looked great all year, even if he averaged only about 4 innings an outing.   He improved his K/BB rate marketdly from his 2012 DSL season and should keep on moving upwards.

"We are blessed with some very talented lower-level or younger-type arms," Harris said. "One particular: Jefry Rodriguez. Pitched in the Gulf Coast League for us last year on a team that led by Patrick Anderson won 52 ballgames, that's story has been told. But he's a converted infielder, 6'5'', about 195 lbs, he'll run it up to 96-97 mph with a really good breaking ball for a kid who hasn't pitched a lot."

He was at Extended Spring Training. Today was his first start of the season.

Jefry Rodriguez is all over the place today; arm slots and release points are highly inconsistent; command well below avg #Nationals

You got that right. He has struck out 23 and walked 22. 7.45 ERA in 9 starts.
