Trienen has the same ERA as Kershaw, we can't lose!

Treinen's challenge will be getting out of the 1st unscathed. If he gives up more than 1 run you have to yank him or that's game vs Kershaw.

Nats lineup vs. Kershaw: Span CF, Rendon 3B, Werth RF, LaRoche 1B, Hairston LF, Desmond SS, Espinosa 2B, Lobaton C, Treinen P.

That's about the best we could put out there. Hairston has good numbers vs Kershaw.

I think Hairston is batting too high in the order though.

Clayton Kershaw this year

6.2 IP, 1 ER, 5 hits, 1 BB, 7 K

Blake Treinin this year

6.2 IP, 1 ER, 11 hits, 2 BB, 7 K

Clear eyes, full hearts, can't lose

i assume he wants another lefty option out of the penn.

Someone mentioned in another thread (IIRC) that Det will be available if the Trienen wheels fall off the starter.

I think Hairston is batting too high in the order though.

Hariston's hitting 364 /.364 /.409 against Kershaw.

Span 0-1
Rendon 0-3
Laroche .211/.286/.421
Desmond .176 /.222/.294
ESpinosa .143/.143 /.286

If anything, he's batting a little low

Werth hit 2 home runs off Kershaw in one game last year, which we lost 9-2. Werth did not play in the other 2013 game against him, which we lost 2-0.  Ryan Zimmerman had 3 hits in that one.  LaRoche had a hit and a walk, so he needs to hit Werth in, if Kershaw decides to play it safe and walk Werth.

ESPN: Sidelined for a little more than six weeks with a back injury, Clayton Kershaw is finally ready to again take the mound for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Making his first North American start this season, Kershaw looks for a fourth straight winning outing over the host Washington Nationals on Tuesday night.

Kershaw (1-0, 1.35 ERA) allowed a run, five hits and struck out seven with a walk in 6 2/3 innings of a 3-1 victory over Arizona in Australia on March 22. In the process, the reigning NL Cy Young award winner strained the teres major muscle in his upper back. The left-hander allowed three runs, eight hits and struck out 15 in 10 innings over two rehab starts with Class A Rancho Cucamonga and Double-A Chattanooga. He is not expected to be on a pitch limit Tuesday... [I disagree.  I think he'll throw about 85 pitches.]

Kershaw gave up six runs in six innings of a 6-3 loss to the Nationals on Aug. 8, 2010, but has yielded four on three homers and struck out 26 with two walks over 23 2/3 innings to win his next three starts against them.

Pressure's on them, right? They have the best pitcher on the planet going and we have some rookie.

It's like playing with house money.
