I must be a pessimist because I can't get excited about lucking into two runs off an error and escaping the jams we created. Cool win, sure. Team (minus Gio and Storen) was bad.

Exactly - and even though they were only singles, LaRoche and Desmond's back to back singles clearly rattled Wacha enough to cause him to make just enough bad pitches and a rushed throw to Molina to allow the Nats to get those two runs.  It's the little things...

I watched from St Louis. A treat. Especially when Nats' pressure (from my view) caused Wacha to shatter on the bad throw to third that loaded the bases and then the wild pitch. Good to see the lead runner take out Wacha's legs, causing Molina's throw to end up somewhere near the Anacostia.

All the times I watched the Yankees win a World Series game it was fielding under pressure. Yankees did, the Braves, Padres, Mets did not.

I was at the game and it was exciting.  It was a strange way to take the lead, I'll grant you that.  But pitching and defense wins.  We executed and the Cards didn't.  Let's take two more!  Gio and Storen put the past behind them last night, now it's Zimmermann's turn.
