Tavares out for the NHL season from knee injury during yesterday's quarterfinal.  The Islanders will be screaming bloody murder about this, and Bettman was already making noises about this being the last 'NHL Olympics'.

Sure, because everyone knows that nobody ever gets hurt in the NHL regular season.  Makes sense.

Kind of analogous to ballplayers (such as Ayala) getting hurt during the WBC.

crap happens.  It could have been a horrible tattoo accident or a hot tub injury (hello Kerry Wood).

Sure, because everyone knows that nobody ever gets hurt in the NHL regular season.  Makes sense.

I'm not sure I would wish that on Canada. Or even North Korea.

On the women's gold game - I heard this AM on morning joe a quote attributed to one of the Canadian players saying that everyone knows the US players and team are better except the US players.

US owned the game for the first 57 minutes.   In OT, the US swarmed the Canadians for the first several minutes.   I think the Canadian player may be right.    The US players got psyched out.   Hate the word but "gag" comes to mind.

Someone tweeted earlier:

"Finland-Sweden is kind of like Pittsburgh-West Virginia, if the Backyard Brawl dated back to the 13th century."

was watching it on the ipad while trying to work.
tight one; Fins look like they had some chances to shoot in final period but made extra passes.  Winning goal was a soft one.

Rask ----> polonium poisoning on Putin's orders
I knew it!
Couldn't Putin have just stuck with fixing the scores in women's skating so the Russian could win?
