Rank Your Sports Teams by Priority
« on: February 06, 2014, 02:27:41 pm »
Mitlens post in one of the threads up top gave me an idea just to see who all of you root for as well as who get's most of your attention if a game were played. Me:

1. Washington Nationals
2. Maryland Basketball
3. Washington Redskins
4. Maryland Football
5. Golf (Phil Mickelson)
6. Washington Wizards
7. Baltimore Orioles (I watch the Orioles during baseball season just because it's on but if all the sports occurred simultaneously, this is where they would be.)
8. Washington Capitals
9. Arsenal

As for "big games" I'd love to go to:

1. Nats World Series/Playoff Games
2. Maryland NCAA Championship
3. Redskins Super Bowl
4. Wizards NBA Finals game

1. Steelers
2. Nats
3. Caps/Wiz
4. Pirates

As for "big games" I'd love to go to:

1. Any Steelers game    :)

I've seen '83 NCAA Men's Basketball Final Four/Bullets-Wiz Finals/Caps Stanley Cup Final game/Nats' playoff/'skins vs Dallas NFC Championship game   ....   I'd love to see a Nat's WS game.

1.  New England Patriots
2.  Washington Nationals
3.  FSU football
4.  Boston Red Sox

I've been to Fenway, Gillette and Doak-Campbell so my dream game would be a World Series game at Nats Park

I'm not sure about that one. For me, I watched a lot of O's games much longer before I ever initially jumped on the Caps bandwagon. I know my bro loved the Caps back in the 90s so I'm not sure.

He said one time that he would trade in a Caps playoff win for a Nationals regular season win (when the Nats sucked and had nothing at stake) so I'm sure he'd do the same for the birds.  :hang:  :hang:

1 Redskins
2 Nats
3 Wizards
4 The United
5 Mason BB
6 Joe Gibbs Racing
7 Caps

Seen them all except Gibbs Racing in the playoffs would want to see them in a championship game in order: 5, 1, 2, 3, 7, 6, 4.

The old Six-Pack order ran thus (back when I had season tickets to six teams) - scheduling conflicts were resolved in favour of the team having fewer home matches, with the inviolable proviso that a live match, to which I have a ticket, will ALWAYS take priority over one on the telly/radio:

1 Redskins (8 home fixtures)
2 DC United (15 or so)
3 Mystics (17)
4-5 Capitals/Wizards (41 each)
6 Nationals (81)

It's not quite that straightforward now since I no longer hold Caps, Skins or United season tickets (I may return to United though if the proposed Buzzards Point stadium, which is currently getting rather a chilly reception from local leaders, ultimately comes off). Mention should also be made of Chelsea FC, where I attend two or three matches annually on my London trips, but they would not fit into the above scale since it's rather difficult to attend a match in Washington and another in London on the same day (tickets to any DC-area matches I miss while travelling are normally either made available to seat-mates or posted on various resale windows).

It ain't so bad.   1983 is the year we all took Virginia in our brackets (me and my buddies) and Virginia got knocked out.    We had to go watch GA/Louisville/Houston and NC State in the Final Four in Albuquerque.    Imagine how disappointed we were with that Houston vs NC State game.  ;)

1.  Cornell Big Red Hockey
2.  Clarkson Hockey
3.  Washington Nationals
4.  Washington Capitals
5.  Washington Redskins
6.  New Orleans Saints
7.  L.A. Dodgers
8.  Pittsburgh Pirates
9.  Houston Astros
10.  Assorted other NFL teams that I only half care about for various reasons
11.  UNC Basketball
12.  It's getting so thin that it's probably best to list various teams I root against at this point.

1) Redskins
2) Nats
3) Fort Hill High School football
4) Terrapins football/basketball
5) Caps

The Nats are a very close second to the Skins fwiw. I love HS football, some might think that's silly, but I enjoy watching it almost as much as the Skins/Nats

1 Nats
2 Redskins
3 Wizards
4 whatever school I have ties to that's doing well enough to be watchable (between myself my parents and inlaws, the pick list is Colgate, Rutgers, UVA and Cal, so not exactly cherry picking the best schools)
