Which way do we go? Big tackle from Bama? Nix from ND? Tackle from Nevada? Thoughts?

There are enough needs that as long as it isn't a WR/TE/RB/QB I trust them to make the right decision

A tackle that can come in and contribute right away would be ideal. There's the dude from Alabama and I think the tackle from Virginia is still available. UCLA also has an elite guard that could be a good pick. There are also a couple DL players that could help out along the front 7. What about CB Pierre Desir? For the 3rd round maybe Wisconsin ILB Chris Borland. He's undersized but so was Fletcher.

Draft  is deep in offensive linemen. I think the Skins could trade back 10 picks or so and still get Hageman or Nix. Would leave Kouandjio/James/Richardson/Yankey in the third round. With either a late third rounder or early 4th, we could take a guard like Jackson/Cryil Richardson/Richardson/Turner/Thomas.

So, for the sake of argument:

2nd rounder: Nix
3rd: JuWuan James
Late 3rd: Cyril Richardson

I wouldn't be against trading down if the guy they really want would be available a few spots lower. Are we sticking with the zone blocking scheme? It makes sense to considering how well our backs do with it. If we are, would it be a little better to go after the tackle from Nevada?
Does that Nix fellow look to be good enough to be THE NT in our 3-4?

Supposedly we're keeping the running game but I'm sure it will be modified. The bottom line is that the guys they signed are back up/rotational guys who might be able to start if they stay healthy. And then there is Chester. So yea, RG is a pretty big need. RT kind of sucks at pass blocking. It's hard to tell if it's because Chester is there or because Polumbus just isn't good. On top of that, Kory L is moving to center. I'm sure a 280lb center is exactly what Griffin needs.

But you got all this money wrapped up in weapons for RGIII and no one to block for him. So yea, we need some offensive linemen.

Nix was a monster in 2012, but last year he had a partially torn meniscus. Saw Dr. Andrews, had surgery, hired an agent the next day. He has experience playing in both the 4-3 and the 3-4. He's probably the best pure NT in the draft and knows how to work a double team. Had he played last season, he would have been a first rounder for sure and maybe the Top 15. Wanted him for a while. Give him a season with Cofield to learn how to use his hands at the pro level and he could be the most important person on defense. And, frankly, if  he can live up to his potential, we won't need to spend big money/picks on 3-4 OLBs as he will make their jobs very easy. So yea, I think Nix is the guy.

If Cyrus Kouandjio or Louis Nix is available at #47 then a very good trade. This draft is deep. Extra third rounder should pay off with a quality talent. Win-win trade.

Maybe at the beginning of the season

Well then that could be said about the defensive linemen he has to face.

WTF! There were better options at LB and they need an ILB.  :hang:  Unless they think this dude can replace Orakpo.

Is Mike Shanahan still running our draft?  :hang:

:wtf:

No doubt. But what I meant is that they may be thinking he can replace Orakpo if he isn't back for 2015. I'm pissed off at that selection. That second rounder had to be a starter. I hope I end up looking like an idiot for ripping the pick.

A team with so many damn holes can't be picking a guy to possibly replace Orakpo in 2015.  I know next to nothing about him, except that he is an edge rusher.  We need ILB or more importantly OL and this is what they do????  What the what???

I don't understand this pick when the Redskins are returning three good OLBs (Orakpo, Kerrigan, Jackson) and need bodies on both lines. Just bad.

Orakpo is gone, obviously.

if this kid plays half-decently, then they won't even try to seriously re-sign Orakpo.
