All I'm saying is that, before anybody starts talking about a huge extension for Harper, he has to put up the numbers to justify it.  I hope he does.  Even if you look at WAR -- a stat that I hate -- Trout's WAR over the last two years is more than double Harper's.

If you wait till Harper "proves" he can put up HOF type numbers, you think the price will be the same as if he were extended now?  Not even close.

Sure, go ahead and de-risk the signing but be prepared to pay big time for that assurance you want.

More than any other player on the Nats, I'd put the money down now on him.

What's the price if Harper is extended now?  Boras essentially said today the Trout's contract wouldn't be enough to sign Harper.

Have you gone over to the dark side or are you still struggling with that faulty keyboard?

The Nats FO would consider the Trout deal as the MAX they should pay, Boras would consider it as the MIN they should pay.

Isnt that how a deal works- most a team will accept and least  a player will accept overlapping

Then they are in full agreement.

Photo bombed by Bryce Harper

Psh, she's a "celebrity" with a TV show. Staged photobombs don't count.

It's Melanie Iglesias, she was a model before this tv bit I think. A google search will yield some uh, pleasant results.

someone with BP access, is there more to this or at least some explanation (other than slate is really a fortune teller?)

Quote
LF: Bryce Harper
2013: .274/.368/.486 | 20 HR | 58 RBI | 11 SB | 3.4 WARP
2014: .266/.344/.453 | 18 HR | 65 RBI | 13 SB | 2.7 WARP

Not since John Wayne Gacy has one man done so much damage to the reputation of clowns. Harper followed up his debut season with across-the-board improvements, hitting for a higher average, raising his walk rate, lowering his strikeout rate and hitting for more power. Not bad for an encore. These improvements were partially overshadowed by the five weeks Harper missed after injuring himself (face-mashing a wall), and by accusations of lollygagging in late August. Once decried for hustling too much, Harper now received criticism for not running out a groundball. Some might scoff at the notion that Bryce Friggin Harper is underhyped, but he just notched a .302 TAv as a 20-year old and still gets more attention for what he doesn't do.

Not sure if anyone caught it, but around 6:30ish last evening, the guys on MLB Network went into a rather in-depth explanation of how Harper's timing was just a bit off.  His hands are getting into the "launch position" just a tick late so the ball is already closing in on the plate before he is ready.

Because his biceps are too big. He's got Bernadiniosis.

He'll figure out. He's a streaky hitter. Once he gets a couple of hits, he relaxes and lets it flow.

Harper: "I'm lost right now" at the plate.

Bryce Harper said, "I'm pretty lost right now" and "It's been s-----." Then he grabbed a bat from his locker and marched to the cage.

As Bryce Harper spoke to reporters about how terrible he feels, Anthony Rendon squeezed into the scrum to ask, "What's your favorite color?"

Ok it is a bit worrisome reading what Bryce said for sure but Omgosh I love me some Anthony Rendon, hopefully his carefree attitude can wear off on Harper a bit

I'm thinking May 1, by then he'll have it figured out and will start crushing balls all over the field.

Can we survive this April is the question.
