Working on a new pitch? Really?

But my plan still works.  Now it's just easier to hide.

The final game of the season is on the 29th.  The Wild Card game is on the 1st.  Pushing him back a few days lines him up for it.

Starting him on his regular next start does not.  We'll see.
Gotta get there first. You don't plan for that until it's actually an option, which, right now it isn't.

But you won't be playing the Phillies later. Yes, this is almost too Machiavellian for this organization to think of but it would be incredibly logical to do it now.

Huh? No, you have to approach each game from here on out as if it was the WC game. I wouldn't have a serious problem if the bumped everyone back a day if SS could go, but the reason shouldn't be because they're trying to set up a favorable option in the WC game. You get to the WC game, then arrange.

But if everything works out as they hope, they will be playing in the wild card game and you'd want him there. If you do this and it works out then you have Strasburg for the WC game.  If you don't do this and you get to the wild card, you don't have Strasburg.  If you do this and it doesn't work out then it doesn't matter.

Where do you want to replace Strasburg with Ohlendorf if you do this, against the Phillies, Braves or Cardinals or Diamondbacks?  And by the time of the Diamondback series, it will be obvious what you're doing and the Dbacks will be upset and abuse Ohlendorf even more than they normally would.

Chase Hughes @chasehughesCSN

Strasburg will take a few days off before testing the arm. His next start would be 9/19. #Nats #NationalsTalk

If true, he'd be lined up to start the wild card game.

His regular next start day would be the 18th and that would be the worst day for him to make his next start as his last start would be in the final game of the regular season.

I'm skeptical of the 19th as his next start because it would be Ohlendorf starting again on the 18th, against the Braves.  Of couse, he'd be starting against the awful Freddy Garcia, as I mentioned in an earlier post.

What's the point of being on this current streak if you don't plan on playing in the wild card game?

Lol @ Knight talking about going 13-3 to get in the playoffs.

Not happening. Maybe if we had won more of those games that we let get away and said, "Well, we'll get 'em tomorrow." Most of which we also proceeded to lose.

He's a company man...

With the Reds remaining schedule, we could go 16-0 and still be on the outside...

Precisely. The Reds would have to have an epic collapse.

That's pie in the sky. They've still got a lot of work to do to get to a point where they can be concerned about anything beyond what's in front of them on that day.  You worry about tomorrow  when it gets here. Worry about today, each day brings enough trouble of its own.
