Ali refused to be conscripted into the U.S. military, citing his religious beliefs and opposition to the Vietnam War. He was eventually arrested and found guilty on draft evasion charges and stripped of his boxing title. He did not fight again for nearly four years—losing a time of peak performance in an athlete's career. Ali's appeal worked its way up to the U.S. Supreme Court, where in 1971 his conviction was overturned.

Julie should be interviewing Strasburg or Span

I like her hair up. I didn't notice who she was interviewing.

Good for you. Enjoy. If they lose, it's your fault, of course.

Take that.

Raphael Soriano SUCKS.

Who is Soriano? Didn't he just hit some homers for the "you're always welcome back" Yankees?

Another Soriano remember I not.

Somewhat TBD.  I'll be in the upper deck, not sure what I'll be sporting yet, though.

I didn't study it.   I lived it.   Ali served no jail time.

Yeah, me too.

There was a chance I would have gotten a medical deferment because of my leg but I was talking to my HS counselor about applying for conscientious objection.  Canada would have been a last resort.

Talkin' about the younger guys here.

No problem RL.      It's a touchy subject for some folks.    That's a whole 'nother thread.    Nats won.   Life is good.

2009 - finished 59-103

1969 - 20 August, game 124, beat Chisox 4 - 1 to go 63 - 61; Dick Bosman picked up his 9th win, Tommy John -- yes, there really was a Tommy John -- took  the loss. RFK atendance: about
8,000

1925 - August 4, game 99 (63 - 36...yes, all time best Washington team): beat the Tigers 5 - 2. I see from the box score that the only Nat with an OPS under .700 was Tom Zachry...the pitcher. The team could hit.
