However, how many times in the first few innings did the Nats start an inning with two on and no out?

Forget the batting coach. The Nats need a "how to score" coach who specializes in everythng but the home run. Remember the game when Nats won on four solo homers? That's the bad baseball. So was this.

Dude the score was 2-1, I didn't watch the game but damn it's not like we got crushed.

We went 1 for 13 with runners in scoring position.

How can you end the game on a check swing like that? He didn't even go all the way.

You can end it because you're from Marietta and it's the Braves.

Ah ok, yes that does seem to be a problem for this team, so frustrating :(

At one point, we were 0-11 with runners in scoring position. We had 1st and 2nd with no outs three times, no one scored.

Nice to see Storen looking solid, with a determined look on his face rather than a woeful one.

Thank you Ray for asking why there were no bunts in the first three inning with RISP.  Yes, when you struggle so much in this situation, you have to think outside the box.  What the worst that will happen?  You'll go 0 for 9 with RISP in the first three innings?

For a team that struggles to score runs you figure that they would try to do whatever it takes to get an early run or two on the board. But nope. That run or two would have been the difference in the game.

How?

If the bat crosses a certain point on the plate, a motion sensing technology goes off. Simple technology.

Did you see the first three innings?  Was that a poor performance?  I think so.  Our AVG w RISP is awful.  Has been for a long time.  Nothing new.

Positive sign. If he can come back so we can get rid of Sorry Soriano....

Terrible game regardless. Blew several chances early to seize the game. Our full strength lineup couldn't be their lineup full of backups.

Now 4-12 vs the Braves this season.

Tracy in and Zim out is our full strength lineup?

Ray preaching another of my beliefs.  Good teams get close calls like the final strike.  Bad teams don't.

Is it just me or does Ray look like a giant standing alongside Johnny Holiday?  Is Johnny that short?

Both. Ray is a huge guy and Johnny is (was?) about 5'8". He might be shrinking by now.

This   ...   but I think it's more Johnny is a teeny guy.   Ray's only 6' 1" or so but eats well.

Washington sides nil-for-2 in RotLanta this afternoon: while the Nats were having their LOB-fest at Turner Field, across town at Philips Arena the Mystics blew a first-quarter lead, get smoked the rest of the way and lost to the Atlanta Dream 76-58 (followed this on match tracker while listening to Charlie and Dave).

Final meeting with the Braves and the Lobotomised Legion: 16th/17th/18th September (Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday, all at 19.05).

Did anyone else notice that it was Clippard by himself warming in the bullpen in case of a tie or go-ahead run(s)?  No sign of Soriano from the way it looked.
