I guess. I wasn't aware that he had made it to AAA.

He played 2 games at AAA, split most of the season between A+ and AA. I don't know if he's ready for the big time though.

So what are the chances the Nats are a dark horse to land Burnett?  It's obviously been discussed before that a rotation with him in it as a number 5 would be armed to the gills with depth.  I'd guess that Detwiler, Roark, Jordan and Ohlendorf would be 6-9 on the depth chart and even Karns at number 10.  Since we can't predict injury, I'd say the Nats would be pretty well equipped with extra starters.

Also, why haven't the Nats signed Jeff Baker yet?  I like T-Mo but I don't like him as a utility guy.  I'd much rather see him play everyday in AAA or get traded to a team that could play him at 1B everyday.

Kilgore said Baker was close to signing last week.  I haven't heard anything either.

I heard at Natsfest that Rizzo will trade Denard Span close to the trade deadline and Brian Goodwin will take over as the full-time centerfielder.
I'm skeptical that a player who was 19-30 in steal attempts last year in AA can be the leadoff hitter for this stacked team, but Rizzo thinks he'll be a better (cheaper) option than Span.

Bullcrap is the whole concept.   If you throw enough of it against the wall, some of it will stick.

I wouldn't mind seeing Burnett as our #5 at all but you know how it goes, if he doesn't pitch like an ace, he'll be a bum and waste of money... /season

There is much more to leading off than base stealing ability. A player's ability to get on base is much more important and from what I've heard about Goodwin he's not too bad at that. That said, I'm pretty sure that rumor is bullcrap.

The Span/Godwin rumor isn't all that outrageous.  If at the deadline we don't figure to contend for a playoff spot (and let's hope that isn't the case) then I would say it is likely.

But the "I heard at Natsfest" angle sounds like some of the other bullcrap artists we've had around here before.

Powerboater posted two of his tweets in the Natsfest Section a couple of days back.  Nothing has been confirmed on anything he said last week.

Yes I was just commenting on what I think of the possibility, I agree the Natfest angle is suspicious.

Well if some guy on twitter said it, it must be true. The internet doesn't lie

I wasn't sure when it was just on Twitter, but now that Dean has reaffirmed his statements on WNFF I'm getting hyped up about getting Price.

The trading Span by the deadline thing is hardly a stretch considering that he's a free agent after this season, although Span and Goodwin's health and play for the first four months of the season are some pretty damn big variables in that plan.

We need a poll to guess the five Nats included in the deal.

Stealing bases is not the halmark of a good leadoff hitter. There are other reasons to be skeptical of Goodwin.

Span has a dirt cheap option next year.

Yes but expensive for 2015.  That accounts for the talk of trading him at the deadline.

$9M for a starting centerfielder is considered cheap.
