Nothing unusual. BTW baseball ref now has MiLB splits.

That awesome!  Thanks for the update.

Does anybody think LaRoche starts at 1B next year?  Span is finally showing life and might save himself for next season.  Given Zim, do you trade all your bullets for Howie Kendrick?

I do. Because Rizzo.

I do. he'll be on the last year of his contract, therefore motivated.

Even if he is motivated more because it is a contract year for him, will he produce like 2012 again?  I doubt it and given the fact that Zim just can't play consistent 3B anymore and is a big liability, Rizzo might pull a trade.

Might.

Maybe.

Probably not.

Send him to Minnesota.  Probably only going to get a bag of balls but its time to move Zim over, unfortunately.

This team needs a lot of work, this offseason.

i keep thinking about ellsbury and what he will get and who will offer it to him. I don't think Boston resigns him because they won't be willing to get into crazy numbers for him. Some team always does. I think that team could be the NYM. They have that Santana deal coming off the books and are a NY team. I could see them buying some talent to supplement what is a pretty solid young group coming up(that rotation could be extraordinary once Harvey gets back). I kinda dont want it to be us. I see the Reds letting Choo walk for sure, especially now that Hamilton is up in the majors but he really isn't a fit here.

edit: Also the Mets are paying Jason Bay $18.12 million to put up an OPS of .691 for Seattle this year.  Think of deals like that when saying things like "Rizzo not trading Haren for flotsam was stupidest move made by any pro sports team ever"

How about when saying "Rizzo giving a third baseman who can't throw to first $100 million before he had to think about an extension was stupidest move made by any pro sports team ever"

Ellsubry in a walking boot.  Could make him cheaper in the off-season.  Between him and Werth, it would be worth keeping Span as a fourth outfielder.

Bryce is seeing a doctor again. 8 games out, there is no reason to believe that this season is salvageable. It sucks, but it is what it is. We should rest Ross Detwiler, Bryce, Ryan, and Adam Laroche. Much rather see Zach Walters, Nathan Karns, Erik Davis, Corey Brown, Tyler Moore, and Eury Perez.

MLB Trade rumors just posted something on the Angels and them looking for a starter or two in the offseason.  They mention the "almost" Dodgers trade, and then they talk about the Nats and Mets having the type of pitching depth they would want for Howie Kendrick.

Same post also speculates the Nats would move LaRoche in the offseason and move Zim over, opening a hole at... 2nd base.

Also states that D-Backs are unhappy with Gibson's floating lineups and would rather like Matt Williams to step in as manager, but he is a potential Nationals managerial candidate.

Zach Lee and AJ Cole are about the same, value wise.

That really is awesome.  I feel that many people clamor over Zach Lee, but the Nats really have done a great job with turning draft picks into legitimate prospects.

I think Cole's ceiling is higher, but Lee is more refined at this point, especially with his offspeed pitches.

What I'm saying is that in order to get Kenderick, we'd have to start a deal with Cole and probably one of our outfield prospects. I'm not opposed, I'm just saying that's where it would have to start. I also don't think Kenderick is quite that good. 2011 seems to be an outlier. Is he really worth one B+ prospect and another B-/C+??

If we were to trade for him, I'd rather wait until we've effectively eliminated Espinosa from being able to play second base. Frankly, if we get 2011 Espinosa hitting back, he's a better player than Kenderick. And cheaper. And under team control longer. Also with a move like that, Rizzo would have to give up on Laroche and move Zimmerman to first. Which means swallowing his pride with Laroche and essentially admitting a mistake with the Zimmerman contract. Neither of those seem likely to me.

the angels dont really have any need for more outfielders they would prob want two pitchers. if we could get kendrick for karns  and purke i would be down

I honestly think they're going to want MLB ready or near MLB ready starters. I think they're going to bet on Hamilton having a rebound year and Pujols being a healthy and effective hitter. But their pitching, outside of Weaver and Hernandez, is pretty awful.

Karns may be ready to be a 4/5 but Purke is not.

if they want jordan as well they can screw off. kendrick is not worth two mlb ready cost controlled starters and i dont think an offer like that materializes for him over the winter. one of their top prospects is a 2b i think so they should be pretty willing to move him. cj wilson is a decent number 3 guy. I too expect Hamilton and Pujols to have bounce back years. Maybe Hamilton's drug years have screwed his body but Pujols is a HoF who until like last year was pretty heavily in the "best 1B ever" conversation. I see a David Ortiz like resurgence coming from him.

edit: apparently their 3 and 4 prospects are 2B  who are hovering around in AA and AAA waiting for a shot. Kendrick will almost def be moved in the offseason, hopefully one of karns/jordan plus lower tier  guy can get it done. more than that and i would prob back off
