The cruel irony is that, as far as such back-ends of long-term contracts go, this one was pretty okay until this postseason.  If he had just not sucked so much in this series...
He was done after his midseason injury. Absolutely flat lined as a player. Goodwin or Lind should have been starting this postseason in left.

Final month the season: .139 / .222 / .236

2017 playoff final line:  .167 / .318 / .222

He had no business starting in LF in the playoffs, nor batting second.  This was Dusty's biggest playoff blunder IMHO.  Swap him and Lind against RHP and Kendrick for LHP and maybe we win this series.

Actually, think back to the signing.  The two big free agents were Carl Crawford and Jayson Werth.

We made the right choice.

The defense last night was particularly egregious and his offense wasn't much better before last night. But I'll think fondly of JW's time here. Just maybe not today.

You're probably right.  But this reminds me of how much I hated Lind's AB last night.  All I could think as he was walking up to the play was "take some pitches, don't swing at the first pitch and let him off the hook when he is so clearly struggling"

I agree with thinkg well of the Werewerth

He really booted up last night but so did the rest of the team particularily the catcher and manager...not to mention Zimm once again coming through with RISP and Harper pretty much doing the same

Yep, and I blame that on a certain someone who's already been discussed ad nauseum and hopefully won't be with the club in 2018.

How did he miss that ball so badly last night anyway?   He had a couple other curious misses late in the season too on easy plays.  Just getting old?  Needs glasses?  Vertigo?   I remember him extremely solid on plays he should make for the rest of his time here.

Was actually talking about Michael Morse.  Pay attention.  "Take On Me" is the sole reason for Nats failures.

Thank you for all the great years Jayson. Thank you for Game 4 2012. Thank you for the surliness towards Philly and the media. Thank you for legitimizing our franchise.

He says he lost that ball in the lights in the interview on the Nats FB page.  I dont know if that was on tv last night

That was an emotional interview.  It sucks he had to go out like that.

And he was on base like 4 of six at bats. The bottom of the 9th was awful though.

Still, he did quite a bit for the franchise over the years.

As I've often said, he's the biggest jerk on the team. And I mean that in the nicest possible way.

Jason Werth meant a great deal to this franchise.  I liked and appreciated him.  But I'm in a lotta pain over last nite.  But then, my pain probably isn't as bad as that of Mr. Werth's and the entire team.

Being an jerk is often underrated.

Have to wonder who's going to play that role next year. My bet is that a more good-natured but equally feisty Eaton sets the tone.

I think Eaton has a bit of a reputation of being an jerk.
