Remember when Desi wasn't hitting well and he batted him 1st.  Batting eventually improved!  Remember when Werth wasn't hitting well and he batted him lead off?  He started hitting better too!

Too many Marines at the game today.   Hell, it's bad enough when Copec or Heeman show up.   :)

EDIT:   Of course, recruits ain't Marines.

Can't lie, I remember Espinosa killing it defensively last year at SS when Desmond was out

He's hit .125 in limited leadoff at-bats this season.  That's enough of that experiment for me.  We have a real leadoff hitter, which we didn't when Desmond and Werth occupied that spot.

Shut up, FP.  They are not hitting - don't make excuses.

Yup. They just aren't hitting. It's inexcusable. The ABs are bad, the contact is weak.

Great start! Span and Lombo have no business popping the ball up, the only value they have is from hitting line drives or the ball on the ground

The lineup today is the WORST imaginable.

Bernadina, Espinosa, Lombo, Moore = Automatic outs

Span is pretty bad right now too.

They always pop the ball up weakly, it's really annoying. Disappointed in both.

I really have to wonder if the hitters are actually instructed to do what they do or if they are completely on their own?

This team makes the Zorn Redskins look well-coached.

Too early to call game?  He'll steal second I'm sure, even with a bum ankle.

Daily offense update:  Nats' team BA is down to .228, still second-worst to only the Marlins.

Good question. Most teams have advanced scouting meetings before every series where they break down the opposing players. I wonder if we have those meetings and also what they study on a daily basis.
