I have a ridiculous amount of confidence in Stammen. I think he deserves the opportunity.

None of the AAA starters look like they are close to being able to compete at the MLB level. The two most promising are Davis and Abad (Why can't this guy cut it the bigs?). So you go with a guy that at least can give you 4 good innings and back fill for a couple of weeks. You can always call up Young or Ohlendorf or Young if Stammen struggles as a starter. Promoting Karns gives you the opportunity to judge him against the other starters on equal footing.

The one thing this team can't afford to loose is starting pitching.
I think they've been loose for most of the season.  Or maybe it's tight...IDK.

Why is someone always getting hurt on this team? We're cursed.

And I do not want to see Chris Young in the majors unless he's pitching against us.

Didn't Ramos report to camp in great shape? IIRC that is what I read.

He reported in skinnier, not well conditioned. Theres a difference

You are correct, he was reported to have shown up in really good shape.  Not sure where Slate's getting his mindfacts.

Don't get it. Potomac now in Winston-Salem. Can't see Werth going there.

Davey says Detwiler had a strain/spasm in the oblique area. He'll miss at least a start. If he misses more, replacement will come from AAA.

Detwiler's MRI shows an irregularity in his back.  Going for more tests.   Chris young come on down!

How do you define "great shape?" He looked slimmer, because that wouldn't be hard. If he spent all offseason jogging, it doesn't mean his hammys are ready for squating and sprinting to first.

Fitness should be functional first, aesthetically pleasing second.

On Nats Xtra today, Davey said he expected it would be someone from AAA Syracuse.

Ladson:

Quote
In an e-mail to MLB.com, Werth said he did not have a setback with the hamstring.

"No setbacks, but I did realize I wasn't quite ready," Werth said. "As I'm learning, hammys are tricky, as we have seen with Wilson [Ramos]. You gotta be 100 percent before coming off the DL. There are injuries you can play with/through and there are injuries you can't.

"Unfortunately, I don't think hammy injuries are the ones you can. [I'm] working hard and staying sharp. I just gotta be sure I'm ready to go when I come off the DL. Got a long hard road ahead and need to be healthy to contribute fully to the cause."

Werth is a true guinea.  I really think we miss Werth more than anyone else on the team not named JZ when he is out.

He just takes every other year off so you appreciate him more

I don't think it's just us.   Last year seemed to be the year of the oblique.   This year is the year of the Hamstring.

As for Ramos,  he was in playing shape at the start.   Had been rehabbing his knee all offsets long.   Hamstrings happen.

Werth has had some "setbacks" and is scheduled to see doctors in Chicago and Washington in the coming days.

Glad we're paying him 16 million to spend the majority of his time on the DL.

One crappy year and half of two seasons spent on the DL.  Might be time to bump the albatross thread.
