His own college coach passed on him in favor of Manuel.

That says a lot. I've never been impressed by Nassib. I just don't see him making it.

I think if Spider knew that, he'd be an NFL front office guy.

Redskins scoop up a TE. Someone warned me that would happen.

I know it was a stretch... but Nassib was potentially projected to go as high as the #8 pick.

That's Mike for you. After telling us that Niles Paul is the next Shannon Sharp and re-signing Davis and Logan, he takes a tight end.

Someone will have to get cut to clear cap space to sign draft picks. I don't understand why they re-signed Carriker. The reports are that he isn't even close to returning and coming off that injury it takes one full year to regain form. They should cut ties with him and move forward.

Merriweather, draft picks/undrafted FA's and perhaps someone who gets cut and is picked up after they release players to clear salary cap space. I don't see how they can rely on Jackson since he can't be reinstated until the first week of September. They could hide him on a list for a couple of weeks until he's in game shape but that's risky.

So someone not good enough for another team,  or someone not good enough to be an early round pick?

I don't disagree necessarily, though I really like Carriker since he's been here. Been very consistent and solid for the 'Skins.

In regards to cap space, I think the 'Skins overpaid some for Garcon and maybe Morgan, especially if Shanahan had picked up good receivers in Robinson, Austin, Hankerson, etc. to complement the awesome Moss.

I hope Shanahan knows what he's doing, but I'm not yet convinced, especially after that playoff game last year. I still think we win if he inserts Cousins at the half.

That may be accurate. He seems to be a zone coverage type.
from what I read, he's a press/man db. Sounds like a good fit.

While I like the Te we took, I think it was a luxury pick that we really couldn't afford to make. Hopefully he's a A Hernandez type and we'll be super excited but I think a safety would have been a better choice or ilb.

What is it about Carriker you like again? His first season here he was total crap because he was coming off an injury that sidelined him for the entire 2009 season. I'll grant that he had a pretty good 2010 season. Then last season he got hurt again in the second game of the season and spent the rest of the season on injured reserved. Except for 2010, he's been consistently bad and has missed, practically, two entire seasons to injury. I hope I'm wrong but I wouldn't expect to get much production out of Carriker after coming off another squandered season in injured reserve. Especially after his setback last month and the news that he is not even close to being healthy.

I saw him play press against Miami and he got torched for a couple TD's. Looked really bad. That's why I said he must be more at home in zone.

There was a really good ILB available. Would've been a steal in the 3rd round.
