This maybe the most important game of the season for Gio thus far. He is our de facto ACE and is poised to open the NLDS. This is NOT about the Phillies but controlling our own destinty.

Of course taking a step towards eliminating the Phillies from post season would be nice.

Tyler Cloyd, 5 starts, 3.86 ERA.  I predict he goes 7, allows 2 hits and no runs. :)

(Decent stats - 26Ks, 5 BB in 28 IP.  1.143 WHIP)

I guess we have 5 games in which to get our magic number if we want Gio as our Game 1 and 5 starter.

A win for Gio here would all but wrap up the NL Cy Young for him.
Just about wrap up the division too in my mind. I think it's great that the Nats must continue to play hard down to the final week of the season. I've always said that the teams who get to coast into the post-season are often the first ones to get bounced, usually by a scrappy wildcard team.

And also, for the record... that at-bat by Werth in the ninth last night was awesome.

Yes it was.  I don't recall too many more exciting half innings in baseball where I had a dog in the fight...ever...

Dickey won again.  More innings. Lower era, better k/walk ratio, worse team. I think it's dickeys.

Absolutely.  Gio hasn't had a save blown for him all year.

The pitch he hit out was a total meatball.  If he gets fed a few more of those he'll tie the teenage home run record tonight.

I think he'll tie it, then blow past it in the playoffs.
