Great thread so far! I'll be heading to Atlanta here within the hour. Can't wait. Hopefully we get our first sweep!

Weather Channel calling for rather milder conditions tonight: 83 at first pitch, 76 by 23.00; 10% chance of precip throughout.

Awaiting our lads in Miami tomorrow: 86 degrees at first pitch, 84 by 16.00, isolated thunderstorms, 30% chance of rain throughout.

Roof will be closed in Miami, so weather not really much of an issue there.

Should I go to a sports bar tonight to watch the.game? Rolling Thunder will most likely have infested the place. Not that that's a bad thing.

All these pictures and gifs of brooms and sweeping leads me to the inevitable conclusion:

Simulated this game in MLB the Show, Gio got rocked but Harper went deep twice, and Zim hit one out as the Nats won 8-6.

Nats 0-9 in games with chance to sweep and 0-3 on National TV this year. Can they bust this pattern tonight?

From the list of non-sweepers I compiled in the Legion of Doom thread, us, Cubs, Rockies, Reds,  A's, Pirates, Padres and Giants, the Reds and Pirates have dropped off the list.  Now it's down to six teams.

I've seen it somewhere before (maybe in this forum) but someone said for the Nats to really get noticed, the Orioles need to stop winning.

Well some help of that sort may be on the way: Orioles just lost to the pitiful Royals 4-2 (1-for-11 with RISP; Markakis struck out with a man on second to end the match) to lose the series 1-2 and finish the Boston/KC homestand 2-4; add the Nats finale and they've dropped 5 of their last 7. A nine-fixture away trip (Toronto, Tampa, Boston) now awaits.

[emphasis added]

...but are the Cubs still in the league*? (just got walloped this afternoon 10-4 at Pittsburgh to stretch their losing streak to 12)

*In the 1930's the Brooklyn Dodgers had horrible teams while the NY Giants and Yankees routinely won pennants and Series, and a popular quip soon went round town: 'Is Brooklyn still in the league?'

they can hit, but they also are a bunch of michael jacksons in the field

Pastonicky, Uggla, Diaz, and Heyward all where a glove on one hand for no apparent reason
